I have thoughts of ending my life. Where can I find help?
First of all, let us impress upon you the fact that you are important in the sight of God. He says, "You are precious to me ... and I love you."

I've lived a full life. Is it wrong to want to die and go to heaven?
Billy Graham writes, "It isn't wrong for you to yearn for heaven—for heaven is your true home. ... At the same time, as long as we are on this earth, God has a purpose for us."

A friend told me that suicide is the unforgivable sin and that I'll never see my husband in heaven (he was a Christian, but he took his own life). Is my friend right?
Billy Graham writes, "I regret that your friend upset you by saying suicide is the unforgivable sin, because this is not what the Bible says. Only one sin can never be forgiven by God, and that is the sin of turning one's back on God and rejecting His offer of salvation in Christ."

Last week, I was allowed to go home from the state mental hospital, after I got depressed and tried to commit suicide. How do I know I won't slide back into this again?

Last year, a friend of mine committed suicide after a long battle with mental illness. I feel so guilty, because I should have seen the signs of what was happening and tried to help him but I didn't.

The doctor says I have at most six months to live (because of lung cancer) and I know they aren't going to be happy ones. Why would it be wrong for me to take my own life? I'll just be a nuisance to my family if I hang around.

MY ANSWER

My sister struggled with severe depression most of her life and had to be hospitalized several times. Last year, she finally got so depressed that she took her own life. In spite of everything, she had a strong faith, but is suicide the unforgivable sin, as some people say? It's all been very painful to me.
The only sin God cannot forgive is the sin of rejecting the Holy Spirit's witness to Jesus Christ and His offer of forgiveness.
