Where did the devil come from, according to the Bible? I remember hearing somewhere that at first he was an angel and served God, but then he rebelled and became evil. Is this true? Why would he do that?

Where did the devil come from? Or has he always been around? I have a hard time understanding why God even allowed the devil to come into existence, since the devil's whole purpose seems to be to oppose God.
Satan hasn't always existed; only God is eternal.

I don't believe God would ever condemn anyone or send them to what you Christians call "hell." I believe God is perfect love, and He has an infinite capacity to overlook the sins we commit. Why do some preachers keep talking about hell?
It may surprise you to learn that the person in the Bible who talked the most about hell was Jesus - and that's one reason why Christians take it so seriously.

How do you know the devil is real? I know bad things happen to us and all that, but that doesn't prove the existence of the devil, does it?
The total sum of evil and human misery is truly staggering.

How do you know if it's the devil who is tempting you to do something, or if God is just testing you to see if you'll do what's right? I try to make the right choices, but I'm not sure I always know what to do.
God never tempts us to do anything wrong.
