Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove Offers Free Women's Bible Study

Asheville, n.c., Dec. 28, 2010 — The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville is offering a free Bible study on Tuesday mornings from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for area women. The 12-week study is led by Asheville resident Jane Derrick and it begins Jan. 11.

The focus of this year’s Bible study is “The Transforming Power of God’s Love.” Each week, participants will look at life-changing stories from the Bible. Through personal study, worship and small group opportunities, participants will learn how God’s love gives them the transforming power to change how they deal with life’s problems.

An optional $8 lunch buffet is available each week with reservation. The deadline for reservations for lunch is noon on Friday before the study. The 12-week study will end on March 29.

“Women who come are usually surprised by how much they love gathering with other women,” said Derrick. “There is something special about The Cove. God is doing a work there in the hearts of people.”

Derrick, a Bible teacher, has taught the Cove weekly study for women for the past 13 years. She became a Christian in 1976 while an Army wife, living in Schweinfurt, Germany. Since her husband’s death in 1994, Derrick has spoken at women’s retreats and conferences throughout the United States and Romania.

Last year, more than 850 women registered for the free women’s study. To register for the 2011 study, please call (828) 298-2092. Newcomers are always welcome to join the group.

Also beginning Jan. 11, Bible teacher Kendra Graham, wife of Cove assistant director Will Graham, will lead a free seven-week study – also for women – called “How to Study Your Bible.” The focus of this study, which will be Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m., is learning how to hear God’s voice and encounter Him on a daily basis in the Scriptures.

The Women’s Bible Study launches The Cove’s new year of events and programs including seminars with Chip Ingram, Josh McDowell, Skip Heitzig, Kay Arthur, Gary Chapman and others. “Evening at The Cove” concerts in 2011 include artists Matthew West, Nicole C. Mullen, Selah and more.
