106.9 Host Jerry Woods Awarded by Christian Music Broadcasters
Named “Air Personality of the Year”
ASHEVILLE, N.C., Sept. 28, 2010 – Regional radio personality Jerry Woods, afternoon host at Christian radio station 106.9 the Light (WMIT-FM), has been awarded small-market “Air Personality of the Year” by a leading Christian media trade organization.
The award was recently presented to Woods at the annual Momentum gathering of the Christian Music Broadcasters (CMB) in Orlando, Fla., and was based on “the nominee who has displayed professionalism and exceptional contribution in their field.” Woods was one of several finalists for the honor.
Woods, who joined 106.9 the Light in December 2008, hosts the station’s afternoon drive-time (3-7 p.m.) program. Woods was also recognized in 2007 with both the “Air Talent” and “Program Director of the Year” awards from the Gospel Music Association (GMA).
106.9 the Light has also been named a finalist for “Religious Station of the Year” from the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). That winner will be announced at NAB’s annual Marconi Radio Awards ceremony this Thursday, Sept. 30, in Washington, D.C.
