Billy Graham Training Center Offers Scholarships to Active-Duty Military

All Military Personnel are Eligible to Apply

ASHEVILLE, N.C., Sept. 13, 2010 – Recognizing the value, commitment and honor of the military, the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove – a retreat center in the Blue Ridge mountains that provides in-depth Bible teaching from well-known Christian speakers – is offering paid scholarships to active-duty military interested in attending a seminar.

To apply for a scholarship, those interested should visit www.thecove.org or call (800) 950-2092 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Scholarships are limited and include the cost of the seminar, food and lodging for active-duty military and their spouses. A complete list of upcoming seminars is available on the website.

“Offering scholarships to active-duty military personnel is just a small way we can say ‘thank you’ to our brave men and women in uniform,” said Scott Holmquist, executive director of The Cove. “We are happy we can serve our military in this capacity, offering an opportunity for spiritual renewal and encouragement through sound biblical teaching.”

Seminars provide time and space to be alone with God. In the process, participants will receive biblical teaching from respected Christian speakers. The Cove is a mountain retreat destination, where guests enjoy quiet seclusion, complete with winding trails, well-appointed rooms and celebrated cuisine.

Military chaplains interested in bringing groups from their bases are encouraged to contact The Cove to make arrangements.

In addition to military scholarships, The Cove is offering a special retreat for all active-duty military chaplains Nov. 29 – Dec. 2. This retreat is also open to National Guard and Reserve Chaplains who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan. Travel costs will be reimbursed up to $500, and food and lodging will be provided. Guest speakers will include General Van Antwerp, Dr. Richard Blackaby, Admiral Vern Clark, General "Hondo" Campbell and others. Visit www.thecove.org or call (800) 950-2092 for more information.
