Blue Ridge Broadcasting Completes Move to Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove
Radio stations have new home, but maintain signals and Christian programming
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Blue Ridge Broadcasting (BRB), the ministry that runs Christian radio station 106.9 the Light, announced today it has finalized its long-awaited move to the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville. The move allows BRB’s three broadcast and two Internet stations to operate more efficiently on property owned by its affiliated ministry, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The move completes a year-long process that started when BRB sold the land on which it had operated in Black Mountain to the Ingles grocery chain last year. The Cove now houses operations for all of BRB’s radio stations, including broadcast stations 106.9 the Light (contemporary Christian music and Bible teaching), 1010 AM WFGW Faith & Freedom (conservative talk and Bible teaching) and theEDGE 106.9 HD2 (youth and young adult Christian radio), as well as Internet stations LaLuzdeChristo.org (Spanish-language Christian radio) and WFGW.org (southern gospel). “Blue Ridge Broadcasting and the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove have so much in common,” said BRB General Manager Jim Kirkland. “Both ministries are committed to building up people with the hope that comes only through Jesus Christ. We’ve enjoyed working together in that purpose for years and now we’re blessed to be able to do so on the same beautiful property.” “For nearly 50 years, Blue Ridge Broadcasting has provided inspirational music and Biblical teachings on the air,” said Scott Holmquist, executive director of The Cove. “We are delighted to be on the same property with its majestic, natural beauty, and anticipate all that God will do with both ministries in the months and years ahead.” BRB was officially founded in 1959 to pursue Billy and Ruth Graham’s vision to bring a Christian radio voice to their home area of Greater Asheville and Western North Carolina. The ministry had been on its former property on Highway 70 in Black Mountain since 1962. BRB’s mailing address and all 800 numbers will remain the same. The new local Asheville number for the offices is 828-285-8477. Blue Ridge Broadcasting’s mission is to lead as many people as possible into a personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. Its flagship station, 106.9 the Light, broadcasts from its studios at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, N.C. to the Charlotte, Greenville-Spartanburg, Johnson City-Bristol and Asheville markets, portions of seven states and around the world on the Internet at www.1069thelight.org. Blue Ridge Broadcasting is a listener-supported ministry of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Contact: Graham Clark, 704-401-2116 gclark@bgea.org
