The Importance of Corporate Worship

February 5, 2013

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together . . .
–Hebrews 10:25

I will not argue with you about nature inspiring thoughts of God. David said, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament showeth His handiwork.” But at the same time, I would give you no comfort about absenting yourself from the house of God. The Bible says, “Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it.” If our Lord loved it enough to die for it, then we should respect it enough to support and attend it. I like what Theodore Roosevelt once said, “You may worship God anywhere, at any time, but the chances are that you will not do so unless you have first learned to worship Him somewhere in some particular place, at some particular time.”

Prayer for the day

Down through the years, beloved Lord, Christians have met to worship You. Thank You that I am a part of this blessed family.

Unfortunately, my physical disabilities prevent me from attending church. I enjoy connecting on the web with various ministries to obtain Spiritual interaction also, I do pray and communicate with Our Heavenly Father. Thank You. God Bless you all.

The Lord gave Himself for the world-wide body of the Church - we may choose to meet in small groups but it is not a commandment to 'support meetings' We may be called to die for the body of Christ not meetings

Assembled with the Family of God, embraced by His Spirit. It's a special place to be. Now let's go share it!

I use to complain and search for reasons, people, or policies to blame for a church not living up to my expectations and therefore I did not attend regularly. But that was nothing more than a clever trap laid by Satan to slyly and slowly separate me from the Lord’s sanctuary. No one, absolutely no one, but ourselves is to blame for not regularly attending and participating in worship services, provided we are physically able. To think otherwise is to listen to Satan’s whisper that things are not good enough at that church, or we can do it all on our own, or the politicians are screwing everything up for us – in or out of the church – because they are not doing or saying things the way I think they should. We are blessed here in the USA, and always have been and will continue to be, with the freedom to go and worship at the church of our choice and time and place of our choosing.

When I was young in my spiritual walk, I attended church, hungry to RECEIVE God's teachings, instructions, wisdom, and love. Today, I also attend not only to receive, but to GIVE to God and my earthly brothers and sisters.

The Lord said he inhabits the praise of his PEOPLE. Individuals have to gather into a PEOPLE and then His Presence is guaranteed.

Love being in church and involved. Came out of my home church due to problems and then sickness in the family. Would love to be involved again, my husband won't go with me and I feel like the churches around here are more like clubs.

Joana says 2.5.2012, 05:32 a.m.

One of the things the devil hates is Fellowship and God loves right hand fellowship. There is power, unity love ,blessings growth,victory,peace...... in fellowship

Annie says 2.2.2012, 05:55 a.m.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore (Psalms 133:1,3). Amen!

Goin to church, is just like a car going for servicing in a mechanic worship.

I was brought up to believe that the church is the people, not a physical building. The building is a place in which the church are able to gather together. I have been in a situation where I cannot go to the "building," however I unite with the people on the "church" programs such as, In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley, Enjoying Everyday Life with Joyce Meyers, John Hagee, Dr. David Jeremiah, and several more. I visit blogs on the web for my spiritual interaction and I also openly give God the glory for all He provides for me as well as the abilities He gives me, enabling me to work and also to help others. I also believe that God hears "the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous." this tells me that I do not need another person with me for Him to hear my prayer. Prayer is the telephone line to God-whether it is silent individual or in a group. I agree we should gather together to support one another and also to work as a group to help the "church." Unfortunately our government here in the U.S. has taken this right away from us in some places to openly pray, even to the point of not moving our lips. In times past bills have been passed in congress in less than a year because the people united together demanding the govenment to listen and perform. After all they do work for us. Why is it that as Christians we cannot unite together and fight for the right to pray openly in public without fear of retribuition?Further, our children should be able to pray in school.

Al says 2.5.2011, 10:49 a.m.

There are times that I look out at our worshipers and realize that my perception of some of them can be a stumbling block for my own worship. I then must go back to the reason I am assembled together with them. We are each a work in progress. Where else should the rebellious, the hypocrites, the hurting and "my enemies" be? It is in God's house that we can finally find common ground and our personal best. I have decided that I will gladly worship with them, hoping to be a blessing and to consider my own shortfallings. The more I find myself right with the Lord, the purer my worship, no matter who else is there with me. May God always be welcome in our sanctuary!

Karen says 2.5.2011, 10:17 a.m.

My dear next-door neighbor once used the term, "Prayer Warriors" when she talked about the effectiveness of Christians banding together for a specific purpose. Of course, no one temporal body is perfect; but when I look into the faces of my fellow worshipers each weekend, I see my Lord in their eyes, and it gives me hope. They are, like I am, dealing with loss, fear, disappointment, and many other obstacles in their lives. But coming to the Lord's house refreshes us, so that we can go out into the world and be true warriors for Him, who gave His all for us.

May all Christians experience the joy of fellowship!

sam says 2.5.2011, 05:54 a.m.

God invites us to His house with open arms. We should accept the invitation with open hearts. And blessings will follow.

Gerry says 2.5.2011, 05:26 a.m.

In this fast paced world one has to slow down and gather together and offer praise and worship to almighty God. In some situations a person may have a legitimate reason why they cannot attent a church. In this case one should try and get together with even one other believer to worship because scripture says where two or more belivers gather together I will be there also.

grace says 2.5.2011, 05:09 a.m.

Thanks for reminding us about worshipping God, and how important it is.

mick says 2.3.2011, 11:21 a.m.

God has assembled us for a reason!
