The Giver of the Gift

December 22, 2013

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not . . . freely give us all things?
–Romans 8:32

God is the Giver of the gift. The capability of the donor usually gauges the value of the gift. We don’t usually think of a person as a gift, but actually interpersonal relationships are the most valued and cherished gifts of all. But the Bible teaches that God gave a Person as a gift to every one of us, and that Person is Jesus Christ. One day a six-year-old boy in a southern town answered a knock at the door.
It was his father, just returned from Southeast Asia. He didn’t ask, “Daddy, what did you bring me?” He threw his arms around his father’s neck and said, “Oh, Daddy, this is the best Christmas present I’ve ever had!”

Prayer for the day

Your costly gift of Jesus, Father, fills all the longings and desires of my heart.

An expression of love by taking all pain, agony, shame on the cruel cross all for us so that we can be saved by just believing that we are sinners and Jesus, Gods only son was sent that who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God's love for mankind is quite unquantifiable, for allowing Jesus "the Lamb of God" to lay down His life for such an evil and adulterous generation just for us to believe and be saved..thank you Jesus for your love.

My very best friend is someone I have never seen. He would do anything for me. He cares more for me, than his own life. His name is Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. He wants to be your friend also. Just ask.

Most times we do not stop and think that the gifts we offer have first come from God. He is not nearly as stingy as we often are!

Well said Gerry. Our greatest gift this holiday season is Jesus, the Lamb of God, the true Son of the true God. Sometimes I wonder if we deserve such a great gift, and then I realise 'who am I to doubt our Creator's motives'. We are obviously important enough for Him to send us His Son to guide us to Him. Let's hope we are worthy of such a gift and heed his call. Merry Christmas to all!

Paula says 12.22.2010, 3:15 p.m.

Father God, thank you for blessing me to see another day to get closer to you, for your mercy and grace is sufficient!

Pennie says 12.22.2010, 09:10 a.m.

Working in a retail store I see how much commercialism is pushing Christ out of Christmas. I hope that there are many Christians still out there who still have Christ in their hearts. We need it now more than ever. Gods blessings on you and yours this holiday and every day.

Brian says 12.22.2010, 09:02 a.m.

Amen Mike!

Gerry says 12.22.2010, 08:06 a.m.

Lots of people, love people, but have you ever pondered the question of whether you could actually hand over your cherished only child to someone to torture and ultimately murder to save a number of people sitting on death row. We were the people on death row and God, with his unfathomable Love did just that for us. Thank you Heavenly Father for that incredible sacrifice .

Sharon says 12.22.2010, 02:19 a.m.

And what a gift it was- Jesus Christ His Son!

Mike says 12.21.2010, 1:11 p.m.

Dear God, I am thankful this holiday season that the holy spirit is working in my heart to deepen my love for You.
