Loving One Another

December 12, 2013

And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men . . .
–1 Thessalonians 3:12

One of the growing psychological problems facing people today is loneliness. One of the greatest ministries that a person can have today is just being a good listener. Many people are longing not only to be loved but to have someone who will listen to them. When we love God with all our hearts, then we have the capacity to love our neighbor. The greatest need in the world today is not more science, not more social engineering, not more teaching, not more knowledge, not more power, not even more preaching—the greatest need we have today is for love. And the only way that love can be supplied is by a supernatural act of the Holy Spirit that transforms lives.

The love that God gives is not the ordinary love that we find in the world today. When we love our neighbors, it is not our loving with natural love, it is God loving through us. If you are willing to do this, God will give you His love.

Prayer for the day

I love You, Jesus. How often I take for granted Your immeasurable act of love for me upon the cross. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You, that through Your supreme example I can reach out to my neighbor.

God's love is so great and when we can help and love someone else for me personally it gives me a feeling of happiness and contentment. I felt alone several times but then realized God has and always been with me.

In a world that can be very difficult on many levels it is essential to remain caring . We, who have accepted Christ as our Savior must demonstrate our compassion and love for the saved and unsaved. We say we are different , our actions must show it.

Love is a strong word for me and I do that to all my friends and families. I love them so much and no matter what is wrong we all just pray to God for help and love the people that are in need and need love.

This is so true and I must admit being a Christian for a long time (20yrs or so) doesn't help. The danger lies within knowing all for a long time so much so that the only solution is to go back to basic just like loving one another.

My 36 year old son, Geoffrey, died through suicide four years ago. I was shattered. I had a broken spirit, a broken heart, and I was in a deep depressive state of mind.Through the LOVE of God and Jesus, I have found healing.

It takes a determined effort to love someone who does not appear to want love. Even the most hardened heart can change in time. Pray for the Lord to soften their heart and accept the love offered.

It's not too difficult to love our brothers and sisters in the Lord under most circumstances. However it can require prayer for Holy Spirit guidance to love neighbors and those outside the family of God. Help me Lord to do a better job in this area so that they may see your light shine through me.

Karen says 12.12.2010, 11:01 a.m.

I've found that in order to be a good listener, I needed to get beyond the menacing ME, and put others' needs above my own. I've been a pretty selfish gal at times, and it isn't always easy; but I've learned that with the Lord's help I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Thank you Jesus for your patience and love.

For those of you who are lonely Jesus will fill that gap for you. I know from personal experience that he will take the hurts, loneliness and fears if you surrender to him and leave it all at the foot of the cross.

I agree. When we stay focused on God His love dwells in us and others.
