No Reason to Hurry

December 4, 2013

When your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character . . .
–James 1:4 (TLB)

This is a high-strung, neurotic, impatient age. We hurry when there is no reason to hurry—just to be hurrying. This fast-paced age has produced more problems and less morality than previous generations, and it has given all of us jangled nerves. Impatience has produced a new crop of broken homes, or more new ulcers, and has set the stage for more world wars.

Prayer for the day

May my heart be still amid all the turmoil, as I remember Your patience with me, Lord Jesus.

When life tears your physical body down as patience was, the Lord is still there with his.

I pray for families who are going through struggles and trial this Christmas. Lets not loose sight of what this season is all about * Jesus.*

Patience is my most desired fruit of the Holy Spirit, to strengthen my spirit, for the glory of God.

Deborah says 12.4.2011, 7:03 p.m.

Sharon says 12.4.2011, 3:07 p.m.

The Lord said "Be anxious for nothing". Also, that He is not the raging storm, but is the gentle whisper, or breeze. A major thing I think is missing in the world is a Spirit of "Holiness"...He said "Be Holy, as I AM Holy."

Stan says 12.4.2011, 12:26 a.m.

'patience shall be rewarded' I pray that it is with the LORD in HEAVEN.

Annie says 12.4.2011, 09:35 a.m.

I try not to haste, but LORD, You know I'm living in this flesh, which has nothing good. You know my frame, that I'm dust. You know, I'm not a perfect vessel. Therefore, I ask You, LORD, Don't look upon my faults, but look upon Your grace. They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength, not haste. Give me patience LORD, to wait upon You, as You given to Your obedient servant Billy Graham, Amen.

Rico says 12.4.2011, 06:55 a.m.

Kumkum says 12.4.2011, 06:43 a.m.

Thank God for His words. The words are our guide to lead and live our life to the fullest. We try to control God by asking him to fulfill our wants and desire by rushing and hurrying. And we end up with a mess. We blame God for the mess instead of waiting upon him and his direction. And finally we say this is not from God. I always wonder, we make choices and God gets blamed if choices are not successful...Be reminded, God has set time for everything, better not to control him, He knows his work very well...

Larry says 12.4.2011, 06:27 a.m.

If you can do something about a problem, do it; Don't worry. If you can't do anything about a problem, forget it and let God take care of it; Don't worry.

Gerry says 12.4.2011, 05:13 a.m.

Our Heavenly Father knows how much time we each have and rushing around will not gain you one extra moment.

Rick says 12.4.2011, 04:46 a.m.

Psalms 46:10-11 (NIV)Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah I wonder how many of us follow and do this passage? Slow down, stop, be still and KNOW that I am God!

Paul says 12.4.2011, 01:30 a.m.

Lord, while I learn to be patient. I yell out for salvation now! Help me Jesus. amen

maria says 12.4.2011, 01:27 a.m.

When God is telling us to wait and have patience is because we are not paying attention. We need to stop and listen to his voice.

mick says 12.2.2011, 1:29 p.m.

And then we wonder why stress has overtaken us--worrying does little good!

janet says 12.4.2010, 11:25 p.m.

Karen says 12.4.2010, 1:15 p.m.

It's true. We are so impatient. Maybe it's b/c we've been blessed with so much, we always want more. Perhaps if we were more concerned about what we could give rather than get, we'd be less of an ulcer-ridden generation. You're so right, if we focus on the Lord, we'll learn how to go about it -- in a loving and patient way.

tlt says 12.4.2010, 09:16 a.m.

How sad but Mick is right - we are the most impatient generation. The sad thing is it's true if we are 20 or 50. We do need to let go and focus on our Savior.

Gerry says 12.4.2010, 07:45 a.m.

"Haste makes waste" is a wise old saying. Why not allow the peace of the Holy Spirit to set your pace. Patience will result.

sheryl says 12.4.2010, 07:32 a.m.

Think about this! What would happen to us if our Lord had our patience with us. Help us to have patience, please Lord. amen...

Frank says 12.4.2010, 00:45 a.m.

mick says 12.3.2010, 10:50 a.m.

Most times we adults have the impatience of children. Why don't we grow up?
