Blessed Are Peacemakers

October 18, 2013

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
–Psalm 4:8

In a materialistic world which has tried to sever diplomatic relations with God, we have nowhere to retreat except within ourselves. We are like turtles in a traffic jam—the best we can do is to pull our heads into our shells and shut our eyes. But that’s a good way to get the life crushed out of us, as any dead turtle can attest.

Man’s conflict with man has been but an expression on the human level of his conflict with God. Until man finds an armistice with God, he cannot know peace with his fellowman. If we are to be peacemakers, we first must make our peace with God.

Prayer for the day

In Jesus’ name, I have found peace with You, Father. My soul praises Your holy name.

It's almost a daily battle to make peace with all men. Jesus says, "....in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage. I have overcome the world." (John 16:13). Remaining in God is the only key to have peace. Let Psalm 91 be the blessings and promises to all true believers.

Only my Sweet Lord Jesus can give everlasting peace in my heart that this world can never give...

I have known the peace that passes all understanding, and I am aware that peace is not intended only when circumstances are favorable, but is available at all times. My soul is not peaceful at this time. My son is in prison (21 yrs young) and I have a daughter whom I have not seen or spoken with in a year. ( 16 yrs young) As a single mom, days can be difficult and trying. Please pray that I will once again be content in all things. I know His eye is on the sparrow, yet still get sidetracked by grief and worry at times.

Thank you for that word today.... God is confirming to my heart to be a peacemaker. My other devotional, today, spoke of the difference between being a peacemaker and a peacekeeper. God wants me to be a peacemaker. For far too long, I've been a peacekeeper (the middle person who is constantly trying to find neutral ground/seeking the delicate balance between both sides. "Peacemakers plow right into the middle of the conflict and HELP them make peace with one another." Max Lucado. Help me, Lord, to be a peacemaker.

True and lasting peace can only be found in a right relationship with Christ . The world will never know true peace because it rejects God's Holy Son, to it's ultimate peril. The end is foretold in God's Sacred Word.

I have tried to make peace with God, but I can't even have peace in my own family. Every time I feel as though I am getting so close to God my husband or daughter reek havoc in my life. And I just seemed to lose self control. I hate this about myself. Maybe I should just be one of those turtles and get crushed in the crowd.

May antagonists and trouble makers heed these passages
