Experience Jesus

October 15, 2013

The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
–John 6:63

To one of the most religious men of His day, Jesus said, “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). Nicodemus could not substitute his profound knowledge of religion for spiritual rebirth, and neither can we. I have read a book on water skiing, and it did not take long for me to learn that I could never learn to water ski by reading a book—I would have to experience it.

I have read a number of books on golf, but none of them seems to improve my game; I must get out on the golf course and play. You may study theology and religion, but there comes a time when you must experience Christ for yourself.

Prayer for the day

Lord, You have given me life and I praise You!

As a former teacher of instrumental music, I can relate to reading as much as possible about how to play an instrument is much different than actually picking it up and learning how to play. We must all experience the same with the Bible.

It is only by asking and accepting God's plan of salvation through Jesus can we be saved. Our lives are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and we serve our Savior until He brings us home to heaven.

Christ will teach us how to live a life to his honour. He will guide us all the way. Thank you Lord for your words that are life, and they give us life! An eternal life!

Thank you, that is so true.

I recall many years ago prior to accepting Christ as my personal Lord and Savior that other people who already knew Christ had a certain aura about them that seemed pleasantly different. After accepting and experiencing Christ it was clear to me that there is a Joy and Peace that envelopes and permeates the soul of a believer that cannot be found any other way.

Thank you for this devotion today as I really needed this. Thank you Rev. Graham for helping us to understand these truths.
