Respect for Authority

October 4, 2013

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All [authority] is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
–Matthew 28:18

Have respect for authority. Jesus Christ was under the authority of His Father in heaven . . . He lived for one thing: to fulfill the will of the Father. Everyone is subject to some kind of authority. There is one chain of command and the ultimate authority at the top is God.

What is the authority in your life? Is it your selfishness? Your lust? Your greed? Or have you turned it all over to God and said, “Lord, You are going to be my authority?" When you are under authority, you are then able to assume authority.

Prayer for the day

There are still areas in my life that need to come under Your authority, Lord Jesus. Give me Your grace and strength to yield everything to You.

"Adam and Eve chose from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Rather than choosing to be under God's authority they chose to become the authority." Lord Be from now on the authority over my own life and I know it shall go well with me. Amen.

There is one authority, the Lord our God. He shows us the way to a better life here on earth and in heaven. I thank my God every day for my health, my family and friends. Sin has no part in my life.

Be a Christian-- Admit to God you are a sinner and turn from your ways and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord. Ask God to Save you and He will. Know what to do as a Christian--Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Commit to following Christ everyday.

Prior to accepting Christ , I was my own authority.....and failed at everything, miserably. Being honest ,at times I still struggle buts it's getting easier as I grow spiritually and count my innumerable blessings.

If it only it was as easy as saying "Lord, You are going to be my authority." I am 46 years old and I have been addicted to porn since I was 11.

I agree. God is the final authority and we should submit to Him. God also wants us to submit to instituted authorities including our leaders. This is because every leader is under God's authority. Why then do we speak ill of our leaders???

God is the Author and Finisher of all things. Therefore He is the final Authority in all of our lives. We submit to God in love and thanksgiving for giving us Jesus to save us.

Mark says 10.4.2011, 8:23 p.m.

Our earliest ancestors Adam and Eve chose from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Rather than choosing to be under God's authority they chose to become the authority. This produced a broken relationship between God and man. This produced a fallen human nature. Jesus came to our world. He was under the authority of his Father always. As He died on the cross He died for the sins of all mankind and mended mankind's broken relationship with God. In Jesus Christ we are accepted in the eyes of the Father. Jesus is both our Lord and our Redeemer. We must surrender our will to the authority of Jesus in our lives, He is our Good Shepherd who forever cares for us.

Joe says 10.4.2011, 08:22 a.m.

Good Lord please provide us with Your Grace so we can turn to You and love you with our all.

Gerry says 10.4.2011, 07:29 a.m.

The battle between self authority and God's authority is an ongoing struggle. God understands this conflict and knows when a person is sincerely trying. He will never give up on us and we should never quit doing our best to surrender all to his divine and perfect authority.
