Our Defeated Foe

October 1, 2013

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword . . .
–Hebrews 4:12

How do we overcome the devil in everyday life? First, we need to recognize that the devil is a defeated foe. The Son of God came to undo the work of the devil. The crucifixion of Christ, which looked like a mighty victory for Satan, turned out to be a great triumph for God, because it was on the cross that Jesus took your sins and my sins. God laid our sins on Christ, so that when our Lord bowed His head and said, “It is finished,” He was referring to the plan of redemption and salvation. Then . . . we are to resist the devil. If we resist him, Scripture says, he will flee from us. Jesus overcame the devil not by argument but simply by quoting Scripture. That is why it is so important to learn and memorize Scripture passages.

Prayer for the day

Thank You, heavenly Father, for the protection of Your Word as I face everyday temptations.

Satan does not take any days off of trying to decieve us, we must read our bible and praise God every day. Luke 10:19 " behold I have given you the power to tread upon serpents and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy, nothing will harm you

When the internet first came to being, the internet was a great tool for communication across this country and beyond. But Satan came in and deceived many of us with words and images that have lead many of us astray. I pray we use it God's grace.

You are so right the word is our weapon to fight against the enemy. We must meditate on it day and night. Eat it as nourishment to our souls. Beat it into our flesh everyday and look for ways to share it with others.

And if you sense Satan lurking in your life, he MUST leave if you order him out in Jesus Name! You must shout it verbally, as Satan cannot read minds, thank God!

Greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world. God gave us His Holy Spirit to keep us from being overcome by satan. We need to use the Holy Spirit as our protector and defender. God is always in us.

Satan was defeated at Calvary, however that does not mean Christians should let their guard down. Satan is a master of deceiption and takes great joy in causing a Child of God to stumble. We must be alert always, for scripture says he waits as a roaring lion to............ We do not have to live in fear, just pray for the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead you each day.
