Our Greatest Need

September 30, 2013

I stretch forth my hands unto thee; my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land...
–Psalm 143:6

Not long ago I visited the dean of a great American university. We looked out the window of his office and watched hundreds of students walking to their classes. I asked the dean, “What is the greatest problem at this university?” He thought a moment and answered, “Emptiness.” So many people today are bored, lonely, searching for something. You can see it in their faces.

One girl home from college told her wealthy father, “Father, I want something but I don’t know what it is.” That’s true of many people; we want something to meet the deepest problems of our lives, but we haven’t found it. David said, “I have found it. I shall not want.” The Apostle Paul expressed it, “I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.”

You don’t have to give up on life, to throw up your hands and cry, “It’s no use.” . . . You can have God’s peace, God’s joy, God’s happiness, God’s security; and yours can become the most thrilling life in the world.

Prayer for the day

Lord Jesus, You quench the thirst and longing of my soul. Praise Your blessed name.

Without God, your life is as a barren fruit tree, there is a way to change the fate of your tree, GOD. God will bring a new spring of life to your tree. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and water your tree with his Word. The fruit WILL come.

Worldly things may make you smile temporarily........ then sadness returns. However a deep relationship with Christ will make you smile......... eternally.

You can't be happy with material items, they will only make you happy for a short time. Put Jesus in your life and you will be full of love and peace.

Praise the Lord...did I ever need to hear that message today. I am without a job, money is very tight and I feel so overwhelmed. I know the Lord is faithful but sometimes it's hard to figure out what the Lord is up! I so want to toss my hands up and say "I give up" but this message is a reminder to keep trusting in Him!

When I am feeling life is hard I always remember a quote of Joni Erickson. "I would rather be in a wheelchair with God, than walking without him". God promises us that no tribulation will come upon us that we are unable to bear if we put our trust in him. Praise God for his unfailing love.

Happy New Year to my born Jewish family. Adam and Eve were not content with all that God gave them in paradise, so they sinned and that sin of dis content has grown since that time. Jesus was content to serve, to sacrifice, to teach and admonish, to love the unloved. Jesus planted contentment back in this world. I pray that His contentment grow strong in the hearts of all people.

The first 30 years of my life, prior to accepting Christ were routine and there was a huge void. Joy was missing. Then, Joy found me and everything changed. The past 27 years have been an incredible journey filled with the Love of God. Even during the difficult and sometimes tragic periods I felt the strong, calming presence of Christ. My goal each day is to be the best I can be as a child of God. I usually fall short but God is faithful to forgive and encourage my walk. If you don't know him personally, you really should, while there's still time.

I often wonder as I walk the beach and talk to Jesus each morning, What Jesus and I would talk about as friends walking and talking side by side. What foods would Jesus like~ what is his favorite color~ If he chose to have a dog what kind would he choose? I am sure the love of his children is first but its easy to forget that he is with me where ever I am. I just need to stop and smell the roses he made. I love you Jesus always have, always will!
