A Living Presence

September 24, 2013

A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
–Luke 2:32

If we could look through mighty telescopes or listen to electronic soundings, we could hear and see the metallic stars which both Russia and America have put into space in the past years. None of these synthetic stars have brought peace to the world. But God’s star promised peace to the whole world, if man would believe and trust.

Too often man’s synthetic stars bring fear and anxiety. Our gadget-filled paradise, suspended in a hell of international insecurity, certainly does not offer us the happiness of which the last century dreamed.

But there is still a star in the sky. There is still a song in the air. And Jesus Christ is alive. He is with us, a living presence, to conquer despair, to impart hope, to forgive sins, and to take away our loneliness and reconcile us to God.

Prayer for the day

Your peace reaches all who love and trust You, living Lord Jesus. Beloved Savior, I praise Your holy name!

As Christ's Bride, we must be careful to keep Jesus, first all the time. We are in the last days; a situation that calls for dire need to have God's word that much closer to our hearts, on our lips and continually in our thoughts.

For twenty years i sank ever deeper into cocaine addiction. i lost hope. I was dead. But something in me kept praying to God... and then came a Light. That Light was Jesus Christ. I have been given new life. Our life is "hid with Christ in GOD...."

There is a peace that passes all understanding. It is rooted and grounded in Jesus. Jesus said, "My peace I leave with you". We can have that peace when we call upon Jesus.

i have put material things, such as gambling, lust, t.v. , as a result i am lonely, bored, empty, and depressed. I pray for Jesus Christ to fill this empty void. To seek Him, instead of wordly pleasures.

I agree and know that the Lord Jesus Christ is as bright as the Morning Star and the Bible teaches that in Him we have instrinsic value.

nana says 9.24.2011, 12:57 a.m.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying most manmade things ie: electronics, hobbies and sports, etc. However if you find yourself being increasingly consumed by them and it detracts from your relationship with Christ, you should prayfully re-assess the situation. Jesus must remain FIRST above ALL else. He must increase in our lives if we are to grow and serve. He should never decrease so we can spend more time doing insigificant pass-times. There can be an acceptable balance as long as we are sure to check our eternal priorities.
