The Madness of the Gospel

September 16, 2013

We preach Christ crucified . . .
–1 Corinthians 1:23

One of the great needs in the church today is for every Christian to become enthusiastic about his faith in Jesus Christ. This is the essence of vital spiritual experience. The apostles had been with Christ, and they could not help but testify to that which they had seen and heard. Every Christian should become an ambassador of Christ with the splendid abandon of Francis of Assisi. Every Christian should be so intoxicated with Christ and so filled with holy fervor that nothing could ever quench his ardor. The Gospel that Paul preached seemed madness to the world of his day. Let us have this madness! Let us capture some of the magnificent obsession that these early Christians had! Let us go forth as men and women filled with the Spirit of God!

Prayer for the day

Create in me, Lord, the abandonment to reach out unreservedly with the message of Your love.

Having a vision for evangelism and a passion for winning souls, begins with a revelation of the word of God.Only in this way we are made con-scions of the fate lost souls are heading for:the eternal torment in hell without any hope of getting out.

Our love for Jesus should be first in our lives. Our trust in Jesus will show in everything we do and say. Keep us always telling others our HOPE will never fail us.

And with this we can remember to share that it is by believing in Him we have the great privilege of being amongst those called the CHILDREN OF GOD. Wow that blesses me daily in my Earthly walk!

I agree, we tend to get caught up in the problems of this life and forget the promises of God. Satan has away to make us take our eyes off of God, so that we miss out on the blessings that we could have received if we had only kept our eyes on the Lord.

Nancy says 9.16.2011, 09:10 a.m.

I pray Lord that you create in your children a thirst for you that can not be quenched. Set your Holy Spirit within us on fire that we may be the people you have called us to be! Forgive our complacency!

I agree with Billy Grahams daily devotion! My God I love to be intoxicated with the Lord in Jesus name. amen! There is no other way! There is no beer or pill you can take to get you high on life. I get high off the Lord amen, I love the lord. I look forward each day for some more intoxicating from the Lord! Thank you Jesus!

I pray that I will again burn with enthusiasm to share the gospel. Forgive me God for my lack of concern for my lost neighbor.

Gerry says 9.16.2011, 07:22 a.m.

As Christians, we know the incredible, life-changing power of a close and personal relationship with Christ. We feel the immense joy and the calming power of the Holy Spirit's indwelling presence. We are also aware of the thrill of confidently knowing for certain, that we will spend eternity in the awesome presence of our Heavenly Father. With all this life-altering knowledge, we should be ready, at every opportunity to share this Holy Treasure whenever we can.

Jeff says 9.16.2011, 06:43 a.m.

Thank you Billy Graham for your commitment to Christ and the be a light in a dark world that is actively going out and teaching others to be a light. God Bless you and your family and all of the people who have followed your footsteps... Prov. 3:5-6

With Holy fear let the gospel we proclaim touch all humanity with hope.
