Dream Great Dreams

September 10, 2013

Be thou faithful unto death . . .
–Revelation 2:10

In our day much of the world believes little or nothing. People are broad but shallow. Agnosticism, anxiety, emptiness, meaninglessness, have gripped much of the world—and even the church. Our youth are desperately searching for a purpose and a meaning in their lives. They are searching for fulfillment which they are not finding in sex and drugs. By contrast, our Pilgrim forebears stand as shining examples of men who were narrow but deep, certain of what they believed, unswerving in their loyalty, and passionately dedicated to the God they trusted, and for whom they would willingly have died. I say to you, more than 350 years after the Pilgrim Fathers landed in the New World: Dream great dreams, embrace great principles, renew your hope, but above all, like them, believe in the Christ who alone can give total meaning and an ultimate goal to your life. “For in Him we live and move and have our being.”

Prayer for the day

May I always be faithful to my belief in You, Lord Jesus Christ. Where there is despair, use me to bring Your hope.

I think that too much of the world has crept into the Chruch. The Church is not the salt of the eart and the ligt of the world that it was in the day of the Pilgrims.

We are to love beyond measure and seek God's face daily. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Hope is spelled JESUS. There is no other eternal hope.

Proverbs 29:18 comes to mind - the words of the wise. From experience, I believe in Jesus because there isn't anyone else to believe in - certainly not myself. Solomon says we need a 'vision'. He found happiness in torah - 'the law'. Imagine that

Today in Brazil celebrate 140 years of Baptist work in this country. We praise God, because there 140 years ago the North American missionary William Buck Bagby and his wife Anne Luther Bagby landed on this soil to bring the good news of the gospel of Christ. Glory to God in the highest!

True Sir. He alone is the origin and the sustain-er of meaningful life

Diane says 9.10.2011, 09:02 a.m.

I am just really learning, after following Christ fro 40 years, to lean on the Holy Spirit moment by moment. To allow HIM to direct whether those dreams are HIS dreams for me while on this earth. I pray that I am considered a faithful servant to Him. To God be the Glory!

Sissie says 9.10.2011, 08:50 a.m.

Only God is going to be able to fill that 'God Hole', that is in each and every human. Nothing but nothing is going to replace God. We ask him into our hearts, and he will fill that that hole in our hearts and every other hole there is in our entire bodies, minds, and souls. So be it.

Richard says 9.10.2011, 08:33 a.m.

Every now and then we hear of a new "religious" movement beginning somewhere. It captures the minds of desparate people looking for escape from their perceived, meaningless existance. Only to have their hearts crushed when they finally find out it was all a scam lead by some ungodly leader claiming to have all the answers. Then, delivering nothing but deeper dispair. The only True and Eternal way to find peace is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, God's Holy Son, who will never let you down or forsake you. Find "True Peace" in the only "True God" and never look back.

Yasha says 9.10.2011, 01:39 a.m.

I agree with Bro. Billy :) ...it's so evident that we search for things which do not give us the purpose for our life's and rather ruin us into nothing..!! Thank you for reminding us again of this valuable truth of how we ought to carry on our first love and not abandon :D!
