The Secret of Surrender

August 27, 2013

Just as you used to be slaves to all kinds of sin, so now you must let yourselves be slaves to all that is right and holy.
–Romans 6:19 (TLB)

We have heard the modern expression, “Don’t fight it—it’s bigger than both of us.” Those who are meek do not fight back at life. They learn the secret of surrender, or yielding to God. He then fights for us! Instead of filling your mind with resentments, abusing your body by sinful diversion, and damaging your soul by willfulness, humbly give all over to God. Your conflicts will disappear and your inner tensions will vanish into thin air. Then your life will begin to count for something. You will have the feeling of belonging to life. Boredom will melt away, and you will become vibrant with hope and expectation. Because you are meekly yielded, you will begin to “inherit the earth” of good things, which God holds in store for all who trust Him with their all.

Prayer for the day

Let me yield to You this day, Father, all my innermost thoughts. I cannot hide from You.

Surrender is the hardest journey from the ultimate sin that is pride.Pride fell lucifer from heaven and it will keep many on the broad road to destruction. I pray tonight for the mighty spirt of our lord to empty me and fill my cup till it runs over.

Jesus said, Thy will be done. That can only be accomplished when we are yielded to God in the fullest sense of the Word. Thank God for his mercy and grace towards us.

Unfortunately many refuse to surrender their lives to God. Their pride and unbelief hold them firmly even when their life is crumbling all around them. As a believer it is very difficult to watch knowing the extraordinary Joy that they could have....

Scott says 8.27.2011, 10:42 a.m.

Jesus is so loving and patient - how much He loves us and asks for little in return. I pray for everyone who is hurting, for those who seemingly can find no rest because of life's struggles, those who are hungry and thirsty for spiritual guidance - and physical need. I see God's presence everywhere when I need it most. We all need to take a moment and allow ourselves to see His message for our lives.

I surrender to You, because you more know me than myself and You are only the powerful Creator, Lord. All things must worship You.
