The Purity of Marriage

August 25, 2013

Whatsoever things are pure . . . think on these things.
–Philippians 4:8

Nowhere does the Bible teach that sex in itself is a sin. Man in his sinful nature has taken what was intended to be a glorious and complete act of love between two people and has made it something low, cheap, and dirty. The Bible is one of the world’s outspoken books on the subject of sex, and the Bible condemns sex outside the bonds of matrimony. The fact that immorality is rampant throughout the nation doesn’t make it right; the fact that some clergymen may condone it doesn’t make it right. The Bible says, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 16:25). Under Jewish law adultery was punishable by death. Under God’s law today it also results in spiritual death.

Prayer for the day

All around me, breaking Your laws is made so enticing, Father. Help me to keep my eyes on Jesus.

Sex is a gift from God, and like all gifts it can be used badly. We must remember that God gives all gifts purely, and not for misuse. We make sex a sin by abusing Gods gift, and the penalty is separation from Him. This is the worst penalty possible.

The Truth can only be received through the Holy Spirit who teaches us. The Holy Spirit is breathed in us by surrendering our lives to Jesus ... Believing He is in fact God's love poured out on us. Do this first and your love for God will conform u!

Almost 40 years ago God blessed me with an amazing wife. Our love and respect for each other continues to grow. We know our success in marriage is due to our mutual Love of Christ. I can't thank him enough for allowing me to share my life with her.

Only God justifies, so there go I before the grace of God. Love your nebighor as yourself for the greast command is Love. How can you love God whom you haven't seen yet not love your brother whom you can see. God is Love, let's love not hate

Gerry says 8.28.2011, 07:21 a.m.

Be on guard always for satan is the master of deceiption. Sex is one of the tools he uses most often today to deceive even the most ardent believers. Don't ever try to fight him on your own power, you will lose. Rather, count on Christ's Power to defend yourself.

My husband has committed adultery time after time, I go through forgiving after forgiving. I could not take it anymore. When it comes to a repeated conducted like a broken record, what else is there to do. In my opinion I had to move on. There are more issues he has put me through that were not healthy. So then in order to take care of myself, I moved on. His behavior was going on, same repeated mistakes for years. I didn't have the energy to go through that again. Therefore I'm relying on God to take care of it. Help me forgive but at the same time move on to better life.

Mark says 8.25.2011, 09:51 a.m.

My wife has committed adultery by having an affair with another man for 7 months and is now divorcing me. She says she has absolutely no regrets, despite breaking up our marriage and his as well. I pray for healing for myself, my family and also for my wife, who does not know the Lord Jesus and I pray someday will.
