Cast Your Cares

August 17, 2013

Look at the birds! They don’t worry about what to eat—they don’t need to sow or reap or store up food—for your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are.
–Matthew 6:26 (TLB)

Some section hands on a British railroad found a thrush’s nest under a rail. Peacefully sitting on her eggs, the hen was undisturbed by the roar of the fast trains above and around her. Someone has written a little verse which goes:

“Said the robin to the sparrow,
‘I should really like to know,
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so.’
Said the sparrow to the robin,
‘Friend, I think that it must be,
That they have no heavenly Father
Such as cares for you and me.’”

Jesus used the carefree attitude of the birds to underscore the fact that worrying is unnatural. I am learning in my own life, day by day, to keep my mind centered on Christ, and the worries and anxieties and concerns of the world pass, and nothing but “perfect peace” is left in the human heart. God has taken the responsibility for our care and worry.

Prayer for the day

Lord Jesus, I’m happiest when I’m fully trusting You. This day help me to be constantly grateful for Your care and faithfulness.

When fear knocks at the door of our life we can open the door by faith and prayer. Behold there will be nothing at the door that the Peace of God cannot overcome. Thank God for the blood of Jesus that washes away all fear of eternity.

Unlike my past when I used to worry, I now my worries and turn them into concerns and ask God for guidance. I like the saying LET GO, LET GOD. It is much more comforting.

PTL. Thank you for the message and I needed to know that. In this past month, our Lord Jesus is teaching me to wait on Him and not lean on my own understanding. Ps 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.

Indeed, his supernatural arms holds us each moments in all trauma we pass thru. We begin to feel and realise it immediately we centre our eyes and faith on Him alone. Oh what a supernatural calming the Lord really offers.

Thanks for this beautiful piece, care free life does not necessarily means abscenece of worry but the Jesus cntered life says it ALL!

Gerry says 8.17.2011, 06:24 a.m.

It is natural to be initially concerned about a traumatic event or bad news. However nothing is gained by worrying. In fact it will actually make things worse. Instead of switching to "Worry Mode", switch to "Prayer Mode" and seek the Supernatual Calming the Lord offers.

Jenan says 8.17.2011, 02:27 a.m.
