Truth and Fiction

July 28, 2013

. . . make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
–Psalm 145:12

Some years ago I heard about a clergyman who had a friend who was an actor. The actor was drawing large crowds of people, and the clergyman was preaching to a few in the church. He said to his actor friend, “Why is it that you draw great crowds, and I have no audience at all? Your words are sheer fiction, and mine are unchangeable truth.” The actor’s reply was quite simple. “I present my fiction as though it were truth; you present your truth as though it were fiction.” I fear that so often we Christians give the idea that the truth is fiction by the way we live and by the lack of dedication to the teachings of our Lord.

Prayer for the day

Lord Jesus, I would completely yield my life to You, so that others may know that the Savior I love and serve is the truth!

In today's society truth is relative. I'm afraid that is becoming true in today's church too. We as the Church of Christ have got to become better witnesses. Let's start a Revival !!!

What message are we sending to the unsaved that watch us live our lives. They may hear our words but do they see us live by them? Lord please let your light shine through me and to do better job at setting a Godly example. For your Glory.

The truth is out there, we just have to take time to search it. For the most part, tv and the movies are fiction and we shouldn't take them seriously. My wife and I have talked to our children about the reality of life and tv and the movies aren't.

Lord, most have failed you so, we are to be more like Christ your son who was sent here for our salvation and to teach us the way to live, to give ,to comfort the elders and widows and feed the hungry and be as right standing with our GOD as possible!! I am striving to be like Jesus, but I fail him so , My prayer is that I will be an example for your LOVE that you have given to us, I want to do your will and show the world that is so disturbed today,that you are the ONLY way,truth and light there is in this world!!! Amen to that Gerry! I have been a Christian for many years and I had fallen from God's graces for a while and recently rededicated my life back to the Almighty Lord. I pray that the Holy Spirit comes in and shines his light thru me that I will live for him to be fruitful in bringing the lost souls to him! I pray that I live in the life he expects and that I not set a bad example for Christians around the globe and for our Living God! Lord please be with me and all of your people that we shall live for you and you in us. That we will all be fruitful in the duties of your service. Lord be with us that we will let you answer the door to temptations, and shine your glorious light thru us. Lord let us give praise in your Holy name and be an example for the lost. Amen

This is a very sad truth. Even mature Christian's can occasionally forget what they profess and find themselves setting a poor Godly example. We need to constantly be mindful that we are Christs Ambassadors and non-believers are watching. It is our responsibility to bring Glory and Honor to God as his children. Lord, forgive me for I am guilty of this on occasion and I pray for your Holy Spirit to guide me constantly for you are worthy of nothing less than my personal best.
