The Hands of Jesus

June 29, 2013

. . . I was hungry, [and] you gave me food . . .
–Matthew 25:35 (NEB)

During the war a church in Strasburg, Germany, was totally destroyed; but a statue of Christ which stood by the altar was almost unharmed. Only the hands of the statue were missing. When the church was rebuilt, a famous sculptor offered to make new hands; but, after considering the matter, the members decided to let it stand as it was—without hands. “For,” they said, “Christ has no hands but our hands to do His work on earth. If we don’t feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, entertain the stranger, visit the imprisoned, and clothe the naked, who will?” Christ is depending on us to do the very things which He did while upon earth. My friend, if the gospel we preach does not have a social application, if it will not work effectively in the work-a-day world, then it is not the Gospel of Christ.

Prayer for the day

I look at my hands, Lord Jesus, and ask You to use them this day. Make me conscious of the needs of those who hurt.

When God places an opportunity to help someone in your path. He is also watching to see how you respond. We need to be ready to help the less fortunate whenever possible.

If you confess yourself that you love Jesus but you don't love other men, then your faith counts nothing

Gerry says 6.29.2011, 07:08 a.m.

As children of God we have been shown incredible mercy and love. We ought not forget that fact when we encounter the less fortunate. It should be a Godly instinct to want to help them within our means and ability. Even just a kind word or a compassionate ear may be all it takes to positively effect a persons life and reflect the Love of Christ Jesus.

Thank God for this timely word of God . After examined this morning topic THE HAND OF JESUS. We were told that Jesus has no hand to work on earth, it's the duty of we Christians to take care of the less privileged and to preach the word of God to the brokenhearted. I pray that lord we teach my hand to do the work of Christ on earth, thank u.

Eniola says 6.28.2011, 7:31 p.m.

Praise thy Lord!....... Jesus made related statement. He said I was hungry you feed me, I was naked you clothed me, I was thirsty you give me water to drink, I was sick you take care of me; then they asked Jesus when did we do all these for you? and he said in as much you do it for this ones who believe me, you have done it for me. I pray the power to do the work of God while it's day because night cometh when no man worketh. Finally i thank God who made it possible for me to discover this today when I logged on. This is another golden opportunity for me to boost my daily living in Christ Jesus.
