Refiner's Fire

June 28, 2013

And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself . . .
–2 Chronicles 33:12

Why do Christians suffer? Rest assured that there is a reason for Christian people being afflicted. One reason why God’s people suffer, according to the Bible, is that it is a disciplinary, chastening, and molding process. From the Scriptures we learn that the chastening of affliction is a step in the process of our full and complete development. Affliction can also be a means of refining and of purification. Many a life has come forth from the furnace of affliction more beautiful and more useful than before.

Prayer for the day

Lord, whatever I have to face, through it let me learn more of Your love and compassion.

After having 2 brain surgeries I have realized how lucky I have been. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and we all go through hard times every now and then. The hard times have made me stronger and closer to God!

Nothing happens by chance. God is not accountable to us. We may ask why during times of tribulation . The answer may be found later . His Perfect Love is the reason for his divine discipline. It's a time to trust and obey.

all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose and don't forget that "in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.(Rom 8:18; 8:28;1 Tes 5:18). In Christ

Rom 11:36 ....For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. And we know that

Sandra says 6.28.2011, 11:16 a.m.

I am reminded of Hebrews 12:5-11, we are privileged to be disciplined by our Heavenly Father. I am also reminded of Job whose suffering brought glory to God. In my life, in suffering and blessing, refine me and bring glory to Him.

Aimee says 6.28.2011, 09:56 a.m.

There is always light after the darkness. The Lord never gives us more then we can handle, and for believers we must walk a different path. How can we know what God has in store for our lives, both good and bad, he walks with us. I have faith that he is in control, and surrender all to him.

Adeline says 6.28.2011, 08:25 a.m.

My suffering could never compare to Christ's suffering while He was here on earth and the suffering on the cross. I will praise God for my suffering here on earth, because in the end I will be in His Eternal Glory forever!

Gerry says 6.28.2011, 08:03 a.m.

One day when we meet the Lord face to face he may choose to explain why certain events, both pleasant and difficult, occurred in a believers life. A very important fact to remember while here on earth is our all-knowing God loves us incredibly. (As clearly demonstrated at Calvary) All things happen for his Glory and our growth, even if we do not understand why at that moment. Who can know the mind if not the Lord ?

Rich says 6.28.2011, 07:37 a.m.

Lord please hear my prayer. Create good where even more good can happen.

Dana says 6.28.2011, 05:48 a.m.

I pray that my brother, Scott, seeks God, to repent of his sins and to let God into his heart...that he may find Love within. I pray that he becomes healthy again, that his heart is healed from his heart attack and that he will not need open heart surgery. I pray that he sees his destructive path and becomes humble, at peace, and lives with a loving heart through his affair, which led to a divorce. I also pray for my physical and mental healing throughout this suffering, along with the rest of my family. I pray for the healthy well-being of my family through all of this suffering and for God to let only Love in their hearts. I know that only God can heal physical ailments and bring Peace within. AMEN!!!!!

mick says 6.24.2011, 12:01 a.m.

Suffering often brings positives.
