Billy Graham's Daily Devotion

An Angry World

June 24, 2013

The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits,
without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
–James 3:17

The world, in the last few years, has reverted to a sort of barbarism. As practical Christianity has declined, rudeness and violence have increased. Neighbors quarrel with neighbors. Fighting is a major problem in our schools and the “gang wars” of the teenagers have come to present a serious menace in our cities. Fathers and mothers wrangle and bicker. Homes are disintegrating. High government officials in Washington engage in name-calling and in heated disputes not at all in keeping with the dignity of their office. Why and how has all this savagery crept into our social life? It is because we have forgotten Jesus’ words, “Happy are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.” I have seen tough, rough, hardened men open their hearts by faith, receive Christ as Savior, and become gentle, patient, merciful gentlemen.

Prayer for the day

Fill me with Your mercy and love, Lord. In an angry world let me be used to bring peace where there is strife.

My daughters wallet was stolen by 3 youth on a bus today. It had her 22nd birthday holiday money in it to spend with her brother. Her mates head was badly hurt that night as he got off the train to come see her, but didnt have a smoke for 3 guys.

Heaven is real and there is no doubt, God is real. For I know He lived, He still lives and He will live forever for He is everlasting God. The world must come to know this truth about God. I knows He loves us righteous and unrighteous, He called us all to salvation.

If you look back at what made you angry in the past, 95 of the time you will realize it was nothing to get so upset about

Lord, You brought my brother back into the Church. Divorce and illness and job stressors have made him angry and without hope. Soften his heart so that he can surrender to You and heal.

May God reside in families and makes them strong foundation for the USA. For this I pray.

Despite the decline in the world we must never forget who we are in Christ. We must let our light shine whenever possible. Our actions can make a positive difference with God's help.

My Blessed Savior, Lord Jesus, only You can turn the ugliest thing in our lives into a thing of beauty. Lord, You took my hardened stony heart and gave me a humble heart. Now Use me LORD for Your glory in Your Precious name.

i feel the whole world including our own country has fell away from the word of God. It troubles me that our great nation seems to worry about the rest of the world but cannot get its own house in order. Schools are a big problem but it starts at home wit the parents. If kids see bad they do bad. We need Christ back in our homes and country they try to fix world later on. May God bless you all.

How amazing. Just spent 45 minutes waiting to get my order at airport McDonalds and was getting angry and angry by the minute as people who ordered well after me got their orders filled before me, but kept my cool and eventually kindly asked one of the workers if my order would be up anytime soon. She filled my order right then, had I been rude I'd probably still be waiting. Then I got online and read this and knew I did right by being patient and kind.

1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always [be] ready to [give] a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;" Billy's message for today was convicting. We are to be light to the world. We are to be different. Lord cause us to seek you, to be filled with Your Spirit so much so that it over flows and shows to those around us.

Deb says 6.24.2011, 12:21 a.m.

Beware of Anger! Anger is a poison that will slowly eat away at your spirit until it kills it if you let it! Never be angry about things your anger will not change. With others: Anger is like taking poison yourself and hoping the person you're angry with dies!

mick says 6.24.2011, 11:53 a.m.

There is only One way to calm!

Cynthia says 6.24.2011, 09:38 a.m.

Lord, fill me with the desire to know more about you and your purpose for my life!!

Beth says 6.24.2011, 09:37 a.m.

We have complicated our lives and moved so far from the center mark of Jesus. No wonder we are striving as a society and our families are failing. Lord, center us and bring us your simplicity of love and family values.

Adeline says 6.24.2011, 08:54 a.m.

We are living in the end times, if you think things are bad now wait until the day of the rapture. God is going to take His beloved Bride His Church, His Holy Spirit, when the Holy Spirit is gone it is going to be like all the asylums of the world are going to be opened up, there will be total chaos! Today is a good day to welcome The Lord Jesus into your heart! Repent the Day of the Lord is at hand...

Rich says 6.24.2011, 08:44 a.m.

Lord please grant me gladness of heart in my struggles.

Joe says 6.24.2011, 08:35 a.m.

Jesus please set my faith and love for you on fire. Come Holy Spirit. Lead us to Jesus Christ.

Gerry says 6.24.2011, 06:23 a.m.

When a blessed nation turns its back on the one who has blessed it they do so at their own peril . History continues to repeat itself, unfortunately. The results can be seen on the news every day as mentioned above by Billy. Believers must continue to be diligent and prayerful however and do our very best to stay focused on the God's Holy Word. There is Eternal Victory to be found there.
