Practice Good Stewardship

June 15, 2013

Redeeming the time . . .
–Ephesians 5:16

We are stewards of our time. God has given each one of us a little “chunk of eternity” called time. These golden moments of opportunity are doled out to us for our benefit and for God’s glory. If we use them wisely, they are woven by God’s omnipotent hand into the fabric of eternity. Henry Thoreau cautioned, “You cannot kill time without injuring eternity.” “He who has no vision of eternity,” said Carlyle, “has no hold on time.” “Only one life, ’twill soon be past; only what’s done for Christ will last” is the sentiment of every man who desires to be a good steward of his time. We are entrusted with a small portion of the capital of time. If we invest it wisely, it will pay dividends throughout eternity.

Prayer for the day

Take away my procrastinating nature—how easy it is for me to waste time. I want to be able to leave a legacy of time spent for You, Lord, because that is eternal.

God gifts evey one of us 24 hours each day. How we use that gift demonstrates our gratitude, love, devotion, thankfulness, and commitment to back God.

I was lying in bed last night thinking about all the time I have been wasting lately. How I need to be more productive in my mission work and be more of a blessing to others. Got up this morning and this was my morning devotional. Coincidence ? No.

Thankyou for this reminder. May we live our lives for Jesus. May he enable us to do so by forgiving us and filling us with his Holy Spirit. Thankyou again. May God reveal himself to us today and to people all around our communities.

When you're a young person time does not seem that important. It passes very slowly. As we get older however you quickly realize how fast time has gone. Then we see how important it is to make the best of every opportunity for God.

Time waits for no man. Live your life daily with eternity in view. Thank you Lord for this word of upliftment.

My Precious Holy Living Almighty God, Please give us divine wisdom to invest the time You have given us wisely, so we may receive the dividends throughout eternity and bring glory to Your Holy name. All the glory honour and praise belong to You alone.

The most important commitment and purpose in my life is,.......That I complete my mission using the time wisely, God has given me. Its my responsibility to use these golden moments of opportunities to bring glory to Him as a servant of God......!

Amen. Well said. I know that it is important to do the Will of the Lord with the little time we have compared to eternity. It is an investment that will help us to know Christ better.

Joe says 6.15.2012, 07:05 a.m.

Amen.

I'm young 21 years old and God has blessed me with so much knowledge of his truth....at time I feel I don't use it enough I pray to my father through Christ Jesus that the truth he has blessed me to read today comes full 100 to pass in my life.

Gerry says 6.15.2012, 06:33 a.m.

One of satan's weapons holding us from being productive servants is to distract us with "stuff". It could be a person, hobby, overwork, etc. Spending time doing these things is not wrong but try to allocate time for eternal work as well.

mary says 6.15.2012, 06:24 a.m.

Lord, help me to be aware of how I use my time each and every day. May it glorify YOU.

Thank you Lord for using Billy Graham for giving me this proverb about time and its importance. Help me to set my mind on useful and productive things. Amen

There are no lack of things that distract us everyday. Dear Lord Jesus, help me focus on you. Above all else I want to know you more intimately. May this life brings glory and pleasure to You, amen.

Tim--Great Insight!

Pat says 6.15.2011, 10:52 a.m.

Thank the Lord Almighty for this devotional today. It is a word for me and the wasting of time that I have done. What spoke to me so clearly is that we not only waste time as in "tick tock" but the time we as an individual have been given here on earth. From our birth to our going home, that is our time to reflect our Creator God and be an Epistle of Christ. I thank God for the light of this truth today. My time seemed at a standstill but now is moving forward in Christ.

Adeline says 6.15.2011, 08:23 a.m.

I have already wasted too much time when I was in the world now I am in the spiritual realm I am supposed to live for God's Glory. The only way I can do this is to get out of the way and let the Lord bring others to Himself through this vessel we can the human body. My life is not my own...

Rich says 6.15.2011, 08:09 a.m.

Please Lord get through this day. May you also see good the rest of the week for me too.

Tim says 6.15.2011, 06:54 a.m.

In the culture of today, there seems to be a flurry of new and better time wasting products. The world says that we are more connected than ever. A better statement would be that we are more in contact than ever. We are more in contact through our devices and technology. This contact is not connection. Often it is not the source of deep and meaningful relationship with others or with God. Being that God is all about relationship (connection), just being in contact can become a time thief that hinders the growth of fully connected relationships that bring us and others closer to the Lord.

Gerry says 6.15.2011, 06:39 a.m.

We need to thank God daily for his patience and long suffering . Particularly when we fail to do the things we know we ought to do. Missed opportunities seldom get a second chance. Lord please help us to be more willing and prepared to eagerly serve you when we should in the future. Its the very least we can do for all you have done and do for us. This certainly applies to me.

vishwas says 6.15.2011, 02:56 a.m.

I am 63, God the Almighty has dealt with my natural life on 31st May 2011.( Psalm 119:71 and 67 ) I desire to live for Christ, my personal Savior, for the rest of life. May God grant me grace to remain faithful to what I have decided. Please pray for me. Psalm 40:5

How we manage or mismanage time tells all!
