Gladness on Sunday

June 9, 2013

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.
–Psalm 122:1

A lot of people get what I call “Sunday-itis” on Sunday mornings. Do you know what Sunday-itis is? It attacks the victim shortly before breakfast on Sunday morning. It is accompanied by a feeling of weakness and lethargy. Sometimes the victim has a slight headache which is aggravated by the ringing of the church bells in the community. But the disease is of short duration, usually disappearing about noon, when the victim is able to eat a full dinner and play golf in the afternoon. But the symptoms usually appear again about 7:30 Sunday evening, and then disappear until the next Sunday morning.

Prayer for the day

May I always have the gladness that David had, as each Sunday I prepare to worship You in Your house, heavenly Father.

I have had this "itis" before and I am so glad I read this tonight. No excuses for me tomorrow morning. I am so thankful for this ministry. God Bless the Franklin family.

There are times when one isn't able to go physically to the House of the LORD, and, i'm so grateful that His Holy Spirit lives in me, communing with me. His ever presence is both comforting and reassuring. But it's best to also worship with others.

I've seen that Sunday service sets me on course for the rest of the week. Life is about worship, 24/7. Whom and what will I worship, myself or someone and something greater? See Romans 1. The Apostle had a passion to worship his Creator.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY, I agree with You, Dear Rv. Billy Graham,.....I desired of You LORD, that I may dwell in the house of the LORD each Sunday to worship You, my Living Holy God!

George says 6.9.2012, 07:53 a.m.

Sunday is not the only day I pray to the Lord or read His word. I thank God for his forgiveness for my sins, and pray for others to be God filled.

The Sabbath day is very special indeed and should be honored,as best you can. However God is worthy of your praise and servitude every day, without exception. That "Sunday Spirit" should carry on Monday to Saturday as well.

Pierre says 6.9.2011, 1:02 p.m.

Jesus Christ was risen first day of the week and the disciples of Jesus met together on that day. Also the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was on Pentecost, which was first day of the week. If Sabbath is Saturday, then first day of the week is Sunday and believers come together that day to worship Christ and for fellowship. Sabbath belonged to the old covenant, believers belong to the new and start the new week by putting Christ first. We do not honor a day, but come together on Sunday as that was the day of resurrection and also the day for the start of the Church.

Ritu says 6.9.2011, 11:27 a.m.

Christians follow the New Testament and the apostles began meeting on the first day of the week -Acts 20.7. May all of us be of one mind as our Lord expects His children to be. Amen.

Richard says 6.9.2011, 08:50 a.m.

Sunday is not the only day of worship. Jews and Seventh Day Adventists honor Saturday as the sabbath. It's in His word.

Adeline says 6.9.2011, 08:26 a.m.

I love to Praise and Glorify the Lord at all times, Church is where the devil does not want anybody to show our faith. I know that satan does not want me at any Church so I'm going to keep going to make him mad!

Rich says 6.9.2011, 07:32 a.m.

Please Lord come into my heart and look out for me. I am feeling down today and need your uplifting spirit to get through today. Let your light sine on me Amen

Gerry says 6.9.2011, 05:27 a.m.

I agree wholeheartly with Billy and Mick , that if able you should attend and support your local church. However some people unfortunately do not work 9-5, Monday to Friday and instead their jobs involve weekends and evenings, etc., etc. For those in that category it is vital that they maintain a daily time of Bible Study and Prayer. Then on Sunday have a special time set aside at some point and tune in to any number of excellent televised or previously recorded church worship services or crusades messages. God knows your heart and circumstances.

Thank God for media coverage of his Word. All are sometimes unable to partake in the community of Worship.
