Being Rich

June 3, 2013

Real life and real living are not related to how rich we are.
–Luke 12:15 (TLB)

There are two ways of being rich—have a lot, or want very little. The latter way is the easier for most of us. Many people make themselves miserable by wanting more than they can ever have. They suffer from “thing-itis,” the insatiable desire for more, better, and newer things. Jesus was the most satisfied man that ever lived, and He had less than most of us. “The foxes have their holes, and the birds their nests, but the Son of man has no place to lay His head.” He had learned the secret of adjusting His wants to His needs.

E. Stanley Jones tells about a poor man who had an overnight guest, and as he showed him to his humble bedroom in the hayloft he said, “If there is anything you want, let us know, and we’ll come and show you how to get along without it.” We don’t need to learn how to get more, but how to get along with what we’ve got, and get on with the business of living.

Prayer for the day

Father, You have given me so much more than I deserve. May I always show a grateful and contented heart.

Well, I haven't lost any sleep over not having a Cadillac, a big one at that or a big screen TV.

A rich man without God is poorer than he realizes. True, lasting happiness eludes him. While the poor man who loves the Lord has a deep peace and contentment in his heart and life.

lol hey don't knock being both! Being rich but wanting little and loving and treasuring your family. It also allows generous support of worthwhile causes. You can be both and still be a servant of God.

For many years I tried to get what I thought was necessary, then I learned that it was God that I needed the most. Spirituality is what is needed in my life.

The great Healing Evangelist, Kathryn Kuhlman so wisely observed, "THE POOREST MAN WITH JESUS IS RICH, AND THE RICHEST MAN WITHOUT JESUS IS POOR." PRECIOUS JESUS, IN YOUR PRESENCE THERE IS EVERYTHING! I'm so rich with Your presence, A Million Thanks!

God knows how he gives us like the way he showed us in the sharing of talents so we need to be grateful with any measure we receive from Him He knows us better then we know ourselves.

The Bible says in 1 Timothy 6 that those who seek to get rich fall into all kinds of sorrows. It says we're to seek to be rich in good deeds. Thanks for sharing and reminding us of that, and thanks to Gerry too, I might share your comment on Face book too. God bless.

Even if we have less, faith on Him keeps us away from anxiety because He Himself said, He Who feeds the birds won't He feed His own. And He, Who dresses the lilies of the field won't He dress us! He wants us to be contented with food and clothing, for we are His followers.

Dear God. Please let your guidance and hope come upon me. I am hurting for reasons I don't understand. Things keep happening and come out of nowhere. I place my trust that you have looked out for me I need it now more than ever. I am so sad and heartbroken. Please help and give me strength.

Gerry says 6.3.2011, 07:39 a.m.

Your happiness in life should not be determined by your bank account balance. My name may never appear on the "Forbes List" but I am very rich with God's blessings. He has faithfully supplied all my needs, generiously. I am extremely grateful. Thank you Heavenly Father
