New Heaven, New Earth

May 9, 2013

The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
–Revelation 11:15

Christianity is a Gospel of crisis. It proclaims unmistakably that this world’s days are numbered. Every graveyard and every cemetery testify that the Bible is true. Our days on this planet are numbered. The Apostle James says that life is only a vapor that appears for a moment and then vanishes (James 4:14). The prophet Isaiah says that our life is like the grass that withers and the flower that fades (Isaiah 40:6,7).

There is no doubt that nations also come to an end when they have ceased to fulfill the function that God meant for them. The end will come with the return of Jesus Christ. He will set up a kingdom of righteousness and social justice where hatred, greed, jealousy, and death will no longer be known. That is why a Christian can be an optimist. That is why a Christian can smile in the midst of all that is happening. We know what will come. We know what the end will be: the triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Prayer for the day

While the world around me is in such turmoil, Your peace lives in my heart, as I look for Your triumphant return!

I've heard unbelievers say that they do not want to accept God now as that would restrict their worldly lifestyle. They say they'll wait until later and continue having fun. Sadly their demise may come unexpectedly and their fate will be sealed.

If anyone reading this Devotional today has not accepted Christ, please pray and ask God to reveal himself to you . Accept his offer to join his family. Then you can be certain that should you die suddenly, you will be with God in Heaven, for ever.

The Bible says, "When this tent we live in---our body here on earth---is torn down, God will have a house in Heaven for us to live in, a home He Himself has made, which will last forever."(2 Corinthians 5:1).Thank You LORD, THE NEW HEAVEN, NEW EARTH!

Our struggles are not in vain if we are in the Lord!

Gerry says 5.9.2011, 08:08 a.m.

The Beginning and End are already written for all to see. Yet many disregard and scoff at these Great Truths. There will be no more scoffers or unbelievers when Christ returns because every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is (and always has been) Lord.

Ray says 5.9.2011, 07:52 a.m.

For me to get closer to God.

Richard says 5.9.2011, 07:41 a.m.

We as Christians should look to Jesus our Lord constantly for our guidance every moment of every day. I pray for the BGEA team as they spread the Gospel around the world. We are passengers on this space ship earth for only a little while. Praise and Glory are His, thank you Lord Jesus for your forgiveness of my sin through your death and triumphant resurrection from that grave. It is through you we have communion with the Father. Amen

mick says 5.8.2011, 3:07 p.m.

Help us, Dear God, to be ready for that day!
