Be truthful.

March 2, 2013

You deserve honesty from the heart; yes, utter sincerity and truthfulness. Oh, give me this wisdom.
–Psalm 51:6 (TLB)

The Bible teaches that purity of conduct includes truthfulness. The Bible teaches that we should be truthful in our representation of ourselves. With what scorn Christ denounced the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees! In the Sermon on the Mount He rebuked all hypocritical giving, praying, and fasting. We should also be truthful in speaking of our past achievements in our particular vocation. God does not ask us to understate the facts—that might even be untruthfulness—but neither does He want us to overrate our achievements or our gifts, either in thought or in speech. A lie is anything contrary to the naked truth.

Prayer for the day

It is so easy, Lord, to embellish the truth. Give me Your wisdom to be completely honest in every phase of my life.

Lord, May my verbal expressions be an honest commentary of the life You are living through me. "For this one thing I labor, striving according to Your power working in me."

There is an old saying, "Honesty is the best policy". For the Christian it should not be the best policy. Rather it should be the only policy. We are to set a Godly example......as we "practice what we preach".

Dennis says 3.1.2013, 8:20 p.m.

I am glad that the good Lord knows my heart. I am also "aware" that He knows my heart. May my thoughts be pure, my God, and may you speak to me when I need humbling. Amen

Please circumcise our hearts, Lord, that we may serve you as honestly as possible. May love of You supersede pride in self.

Gerry says 3.2.2011, 06:49 a.m.

To outright lie or even twist the truth slightly to suit your need ruins your credibility and witness for the Lord. Guard your words carefully, speak the truth, and set a Godly example.

sam says 3.2.2011, 00:34 a.m.

Wisdom flows from truth which sets us free. Christ is the source of all wisdom.
