The Ultimate Peace

February 15, 2013

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you . . .
–John 14:27

Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Where does peacemaking begin? How can we become peacemakers? Can peace be discovered within ourselves? Freud has told us that peace is but a mental attitude. Cast off our phobias, shed our neuroses, and “bingo!”—we’ll have the coveted peace we long for. I respect psychiatry for what it can do. Unquestionably, it has helped many. But it certainly is not satisfactory as a substitute for the peace which can come only from God. If psychiatry leaves God out, ultimately we shall see psychiatrists going to each other for treatment. There can be no peace until we find peace with God. The Bible says, “He is our peace.”

Prayer for the day

The balm of Your peace pours over my soul and I humbly praise You, almighty God.

GOD cures from within; psychiatry is important, indeed, but it is limited - GOD is not limited at all.

True, lasting, inner Peace that Billy refers to can only be obtained from a right relationship with God. Peace achieved through worldly means ie:drugs, alcohol, etc, is momentary and will not last.

Peace is often described as the Freedom that comes after a war. Apostle Paul quotes just before he was executed, I have fought the good fight. Henceforth is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.I believe Paul always had the inner peace at all time

Darrell says 2.16.2012, 9:49 p.m.

Peace is when God is in care of your life, not yourself, its like when your life ends and God takes over, its perfect peace you only feel at certain times that God sends to you so you know how it is when you trust him. When it comes over you rejoice.

Chad says 2.15.2011, 4:17 p.m.

Everlasting Peace only comes from knowing Jesus Christ. The world promises you false hope, health, and peace and even sound advice. But we need to be sure who we're serving? A fallen world cannot fulfill the deepest need of the heart. Faith in Christ is the answer to peace that surpasses all understanding...in Jesus name. Amen.

Andrea says 2.15.2011, 2:43 p.m.

B"SHEM Y"SHUA SHALOM= In the name of Y"SHUA -JESUS PEACE. The world does not know and understand HIS peace. When you trust HIM and you are saved, the Holy Spirit comes into our heart and HE gives us HIS peace. No matter how hard or difficult our life is, we can be at peace knowing that HE is in absolute control and He loves us and wants the best for us. Thank you Lord Jesus for your love and peace YOU give us.

sam says 2.15.2011, 08:08 a.m.

The peace given by God surpasses all other avenues of peace. A moment of time with God by reading His Word is enough for that peace to come.

Gerry says 2.15.2011, 06:48 a.m.

There is absolutely no substitute for the peace that surpasses all human understanding. This peace is God given through his Holy Spirit. Thank you Heavenly Father for all your Love, Mercy and Peace.
