His Timing is Perfect

February 11, 2013

. . . that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
–Romans 12:2

God has a plan for the life of every Christian. Every circumstance, every turn of destiny, is for your good. It is working together for completeness. His plan for you is being perfected. All things working together for your good and for His glory. As a young Christian, Ruth, my wife, wanted to be a missionary, as were her father and mother. But God had other plans for her life. Changing circumstances revealed God’s will to her, and she was happy where God had placed her. So many of us ask God to change the circumstances to suit our desires, instead of us conforming our wills to His. Don’t let circumstances distress you. Rather, look for the will of God for your life to be revealed in and through those circumstances.

Prayer for the day

How often I want to run ahead of Your leading, Father. Let me trust You completely and realize that in the midst of all the events of this day, You are working out Your will for my life.

We must trust and believe God to cover us from the times of a storm like the mother eagle with her great wings. It will pass by. The sun shall arise.

Lord, help me to trust Your perfect plan for my life, and execute it through the power of Your Spirit. Colossians 1:29

George says 2.11.2013, 4:06 p.m.

Though it might be trivial, but God's plan was for us to move and be near our grandchildren. We take care of them two and three times a week while their parents are at school. It is part of God's plan to take care of all of His children.

Waiting on the Lord: in the process he is strengthening me, and showing me that He is all I need, He is all sufficient. It is me He is changing. Therefore the way I view my circumstances also changes.

Who could not love Billy and Ruth? But thank God they always pointed to the Savior and Word, never to self. This morning's devotional was a great comfort to me, as were the comments. Truly seek God in faith, see His grace in every circumstance.

Lea says 2.11.2013, 12:04 a.m.

I know that God's timing is perfect and when is needed. But as humans we want things a certain way - it is a want that we desire when we should be seeking the NEED in our lives. Sometimes its really hard to make the distinction.

Moses says 2.11.2013, 08:46 a.m.

Joyce...my husband died suddenly 1/2011. Stay in Gods Word, read devotionals, listen to praise music...cover yourself in Him. He will be your strength. Found many scriptures to cling to but one especially...Psalm 62:5-7. God bless you.

Gerry says 2.11.2013, 05:17 a.m.

God's will and his timing is often different than ours. Sometimes we struggle to wait. It is best to be patient and accept his perfect plan and timing for your life.

Over the many years gone by, my precious Mother saved so many of the Devotionals that the great Billy Graham wrote. She went to be with her precious Lord on August 5, 1991. I am honored to have some of the clippings she saved. Love reading them.

Kathie says 2.11.2012, 11:24 a.m.

However....this mentality risks Christians being passive and just waiting or letting life swing them along, vs planning and setting goals, then if God clearly changes them that's ok. Don't be passive folks.

Belinda says 2.11.2012, 10:43 a.m.

God's timing is "perfect"! Sometimes He is ready but we are "not" and He has to "wait" for us! What an awesome God we serve! After waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised. (Heb 6:15)

Lisa says 2.11.2012, 08:53 a.m.

I'm reading this devotion by my son's hospital bed. Last night, he suffered trauma to his eyes due to a fireworks explosion. Praise God, his vision will be restored! While it was distressing that he had to suffer through this incident, reading this..

Torey says 2.11.2012, 06:53 a.m.

Billy Graham inspires me to be bold, yet humble. He demonstrates the true character of an ambassador of Christ Jesus! He puts God's Word above all human authority. He preaches to please God and not men. That is why he has prospered in his ministry!

Akutoko says 2.11.2012, 02:16 a.m.

God is all knowing. He keeps us in track as we patiently wait for his perfect timing for our lives and work. Join me to give thanks for the life of Billy and his wife, for without them some of us will not know God's will for our life.

Annie says 2.10.2012, 4:04 p.m.

I dearly love your wife Madam Ruth Graham. God's call in your life succeeded, because of Madam Ruth Graham's sacrifice for your family. She was a great example to all Women. Through changing circumstances, LORD You revealed Your purpose in our lives!

Annie says 2.9.2012, 4:57 p.m.

His Timing is Perfect! I learned this the hard way. Today I'm very glad and I enjoy my Christian life as a servant of God because God has made all my circumstances for my good and for His glory. Thank You LORD, Your perfect purpose will be done, Amen

Looking at Ruth Graham's life I see she was the missonary she wanted to be. Her mission field was just different than she imangined it to be. Thank you Lord for giving us her and Billy for without them many like myself may not have come to know you as our Living Savior.
