Responsibility of Family

January 27, 2013

Bless me and my family forever!
–2 Samuel 7:29 (TLB)

Apart from religious influence, the family is the most important unit of society. It would be good if every home were Christian, but we know that it is not so. The family and the home can never exert their proper influence while ignoring the biblical standard. The Bible calls for discipline and a recognition of authority. If children do not learn this at home, they will go out into society without the proper attitude toward authority and law. There is always the exceptional child, but the average tells us that the child is largely what the home has made him. The only way to provide the right home for your children is to put the Lord above them, and fully instruct them in the ways of the Lord. You are responsible before God for the home you provide for them.

Prayer for the day

Father, keep me from any word or deed that might hinder a child from loving You.

Reading, and praying every day will establish a better tomorrow for the family, and then our schools and gov't. It is disturbing that the family unit will not take the time out to learn and pray from the Holy Bible.

Thank you Dr. Graham....we parents certainly are responsible for our precious children you give us. Seems nowadays everyone's philosophy is pass the buck....not my fault.

I just watched the movie Courageous and it was incredible! I pray that fathers across the globe step up and lead their children today. I'm still amazed with how much my father in heaven loves me

Godly parents need to model the behavior they want their children to follow.

melinda amburn says 1.27.2012, 08:24 a.m.

you are so right God needs to be the center of the home in order for the home to function as it should. Other wise Satan will run the home or God. Not both.

Annie says 1.25.2012, 09:31 a.m.

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock (Matthew 7:24). LORD JESUS, YOU ARE OUR ROCK, YOU ARE OUR FOUNDATION! Help us LORD, not to collapse our foundation!

Faith of a child is the way to God. Care for a child to see God smile.

Yes, the family is the most important unit in our society, that is why it is under so much attack by the devil. Research shows that this generation of children fear most their parents separation. (Not war.) How important to love and teach our children of the ways of the Lord.

Gerry says 1.27.2011, 04:39 a.m.

Children are like sponges, they absorb everything they see and hear that is said and done, by their parents, in the home. This good or bad behavior largely influences their choices in life. In a child's eyes their parents can do no wrong and their actions are always right.......even when their wrong. We as parents must be aware of this realty and do our best to set a Godly example.

Unfortunately, home is where the hard is, instead of where the Heart is, in too many families!

lisa says 1.26.2011, 10:36 a.m.

I needed to hear this. I am having a difficult time separating my frustration from the view of my children and I don't want them to learn this behavior or think that I do not love them. I have been seeking God again and it's been a constant struggle trying to keep focused on Him while taking care of my children.
