Do You Know God?

January 14, 2013

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
–John 10:14

Unless God is revealed to us through personal experience, we can never really know God. Most of us know about God, but that is quite different from knowing God. We learn about God through the agencies of the church, the Sunday school, the youth activities, the worship services. Many people stop in their quest for God at this point. It is one thing to be introduced to a person, but quite another thing to know him personally.

Prayer for the day

Lord, You are, indeed, the good Shepherd, who leads me each day. Help me to love and know You more deeply so that others may be drawn into Your fold.

God and also Christ will enter your life in a personal way if you are sincere. They give you the "Free Will" to choose God instead of evil. If you can't hear Them you aren't opening your all to them directly and convincing them of your free choices.

How I wish God would speak to me, I am so tired of doing all the talking! I don't understand how to hear him and when I read the Bible it's a chore because it never speaks about my life situation.

Candy says 1.14.2013, 12:36 a.m.

Jesus is my everything, I talk about him to others every chance I have. I want to become closer to him. I pray for this everyday.

True friends that you can trust 100 to be there for you in any situation are few and far between. However God can definitely be counted on always no matter what the circumstance.

DAVID says 1.14.2013, 06:53 a.m.

To know God better means to seek to have a closer daily walk with Him. this is underpinned by knowing His Word and walking in the light of it.

Draw close to God he will draw close to you. The longer i know him the sweeter he grows. Everything good comes from God in heaven.Faith comes by hearing and hearing from the word of God. Get involved in a Bible believing church and grow in Christ

To really know God a person must make an genuine effort. Don't be afraid to cry out to him . He wants a close relationship with you. Seek him diligently and you will find him.

Annie says 1.14.2012, 05:59 a.m.

Jesus called us, Ye are My friends. When I have difficulties, I open my heart and say, LORD, My vessel is not perfect, this flesh has nothing good, Please help me LORD. Knowing He is my Best Friend and Good Shepherd. Total surrender is the key, Amen!

Annie says 1.13.2012, 01:32 a.m.

The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want (Psalms 23:1). THE LORD OF ALL MERCY AND GRACE....., THANK YOU LORD....., YOUR HEAVENLY GUIDANCE IN EVERY STEP OF MY LIFE....., A MILLION THANKS....., AMEN!

We are fortunate in our relationship with God, as most people, we are told, have few to no close friends

Linda says 1.1.2012, 6:54 p.m.

My relationship with God is so close I share what I learn with everyone. Il love when God works thru people and speaks to you thru them too. Looking for answers turn to God. He is our best counselor.

Kathie says 1.14.2011, 11:50 p.m.

I knew my Lord fairly well I thought. Then I got breast cancer and became even closer. Now I have had a stroke and am close to having another one which I dont know how it will go. The cancer is gone and I felt really close to God during my chemo days. I must say I just face each day step by step and focus on the greatness God has created around me. Beauty (flowers, trees etc.); family and such. But I am still scared to lose what I have. I felt closer during the cancer scare than now with the stroke scare. Why is this? Can some one explain this to me? Thanks in advance.

craig says 1.14.2011, 3:46 p.m.

Thank you for your honesty Fran. I believe this is were true growth begins. I think Christians today especially in the American church say "I love Jesus" without ever really giving any deep thought about what that really means.

Fran says 1.14.2011, 09:41 a.m.

I'm wondering how well I actually do know God or Jesus for that matter, though they are the same. I often pray, but never understood how to listen.....when I hear people say "God spoke to me" it makes me a little jealous, I suppose, but I don't wait and listen after I pray.

ANTHONY says 1.14.2011, 09:37 a.m.

I WANT TO PERSONAL THANK JESUS FOR COMING INTO LIFE AND FOR BEING MY LORD AN SAVIOR HAVE MERCY ON ME, O LORD.

sam says 1.14.2011, 07:42 a.m.

The person one knows personally is usually a best friend. Others are our hi-bye friends. Lets keep Jesus as our best friend.

Gerry says 1.14.2011, 06:40 a.m.

God does not want to be your casual friend. He desires to be your very closest friend ......that you can truly trust in every situation. Lord help me to win others to you so that they may experience this extraordinary, life-altering relationship with you.
