Where is Your Hope?

January 13, 2013

And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
–Psalm 39:7

The sea was beating against the rocks in huge, dashing waves. The lightning was flashing, the thunder was roaring, the wind was blowing; but the little bird was asleep in the crevice of the rock, its head serenely under its wing, sound asleep. That is peace—to be able to sleep in the storm! In Christ, we are relaxed and at peace in the midst of the confusion, bewilderments, and perplexities of life. The storm rages, but our hearts are at rest. We have found peace—at last!

Prayer for the day

Thank You, dear Lord, for the hope I have in Your abiding love, which surrounds me.

I am learning that it's o.k. to be afraid, it's a natural reaction. But, it is hard to stay afraid when you turn your focus to God instead of focusing on the source of your fear.

God's word very appropriately refers to this peace , as a peace that surpasses all human understanding . That is so true and its totally free for the asking . So why fret and worry about everything life offers. God wants to take away all your concerns ...............just ask.

Today's devotion is an analogy of Jesus sleeping in the disciples' boat in the midst of a storm. Having Jesus in our boat will calm all the storms in our life. We simply have to call on Him.
