Eternity

January 11, 2013

What we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later.
–Romans 8:18 (TLB)

Nowhere does the Bible teach that Christians are to be exempt from the tribulations and natural disasters that come upon the world. It does teach that the Christian can face tribulation, crisis, calamity, and personal suffering with a supernatural power that is not available to the person outside Christ. The early Christians were able to experience joy in their hearts in the midst of trials, troubles, and depression. They counted suffering for Christ not as a burden or misfortune, but as a great honor, as evidence that Christ counted them worthy to witness to Him through suffering. They never forgot what Christ Himself had gone through for their salvation; and to suffer for His name’s sake was regarded as a gift rather than a cross. Christians can rejoice in tribulation because they have eternity’s values in view. When the pressures are on, they look beyond their present predicaments to the glories of heaven. The thought of the future life with its prerogatives and joys helps to make the trials of the present seem light and transient.

Prayer for the day

Father, help me to go beyond the afflictions and tribulations of our age, and to look toward the inheritance reserved for us in heaven.

Difficult times will come and go. Spiritual growth occurs during these times. In many cases that is the purpose . Learn to stay focused on God and pray for strength and his merciful guidance.

My father passed away in April 2012 after an extended illness. He was blessed with 88 years of life. On August 14 his house burned due to a lightning. I know God won't put more than we can stand on us and can only pray for the answer why.

I can do all things through the one who empowers me with in! Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the LORD the Righteous Judge shall give me at that day: and not to me only but unto all them also that love His appearing!

I think that all the trials and tribulations that we face are with purpose to let us grow. I understand that Every difficult situation has involved a Great Victory through Jesus our Savior. As Paul said: "I learned to be satisfied and to be hungry."

Our father taught us that even going through tribulations we must praise and thank him for saving us .,. When we remember the cross that Jesus Christ was the true hero of humanity but he surrendered without a claim and paid for all our sins

Joe says 1.11.2012, 08:34 a.m.

Our faith still look up to God who alone can see us through despite hurdles of life, and earnestly are we working towards achieving the crown of life by his grace. Lord help us to be more closer to you at all times. Thank you

When troubles arise, (and they will) put on the full Armour of God. Pray earnestly for the Holy Spirit's guidance and direction. Then when your troubles pass don't forget to give thanks to your Heavenly Father.

Jean says 1.11.2012, 07:09 a.m.

When my Grandfather was dying of cancer he used wring his hands with the pain while praising God that he could hurt for Him and thanking Him for dying for him. It seemed that as soon as he started praising God his pain would just go away.

Annie says 1.9.2012, 01:16 a.m.

It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Thy statutes (Psalm 119:71). And if children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him that we may be also glorified together(Romans 8:17).

Linda says 1.1.2012, 6:27 p.m.

Yes the trials and tribulations in life can drive you crazy. But that's where your faith comes in. In this past year I my family have been through awful, sad situations but I pray this to shall pass. God is my maker there is nothing I shall want.

Antonia says 1.11.2011, 3:03 p.m.

As we are faced with trials and tribulations of life, we can count on one thing to be true. The Lord is faithful, merciful, gracious, and loving. We don't like trial and tribulations but The Father has given us his grace and strength to endure. No cross no crown. Thank you Father for loving us so much.

mick says 1.11.2011, 12:22 a.m.

Trials truly test our times.

Sharon says 1.11.2011, 08:46 a.m.

My father has just been involved in a very serious car crash. However, the Lord has been there and our prays have been answered. He has survived and the Lord has shown us that he has been healed and I know that he will make a full recovery. The doctor stated that he had 'perfect injuries'. He was going at 100km per hour and hit a barrier. The Lord is always there and whatever be His will will be His will. My whole family has seen the Lord's hand and even my brothers have now become deep Christians. Please pray for my father's health. Many thanks xx

Gerry says 1.11.2011, 06:08 a.m.

No one is exempt from the trials and tribulations of life,. Whether a believer or not. However how we handle these trying times is determined by what we believe. We should immediately pray for God's help to stay focused and to see if the Lord is trying to say something to us. The end has already been written and we are one hundred percent assured an incredible eternity, in paradise, with Almighty God. Thank you Lord.
