Working Together For Good

February 1, 2013

We know that all things work together for good to them that love God . . .
–Romans 8:28

We might never have had the songs of Fanny Crosby had she not been afflicted with blindness. George Matheson would never have given the world his immortal song, “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go,” had it not been for his passing through the furnace of affliction. The “Hallelujah Chorus” was written by George Frederick Handel when he was poverty-stricken and suffering from a paralyzed right side and right arm. Affliction may be for our edification and Christian development. Sickness is one of the “all things” which work together for good to them that love God. Don’t resent it. Don’t be embittered by it.

Prayer for the day

You do not make mistakes, Father. If sorrow comes into my life, let me use it to help others know about You.

This hit close to home today. We had to put our beloved dog to sleep. But I praise God for giving her to us for almost 14 glorious years! . He is the reason we were able to come to the understanding of His calling for her to come home.

Yes Mick, very true! Today I must keep my afflictions in perspective...no one has suffered and/or achieved as much as our beautiful Lord Jesus. When I think about what He went through, everything I might be tempted to complain about disappears. :)

Praise the LORD, for we KNOW that even the hardest trials in our life are all part of God's amazing plan for our lives, and that it will all work together for good if we love Him! He will always be with us, especially during trials. After all, light shines the brightest in complete darkness!

I have many on my prayer list right now, young people who have cancer, please Lord let them know that you have something better for them down the road. "our God shall fight for us". praise Jesus!

Brian says 2.1.2011, 09:05 a.m.

Spot on Mick. I am starting to realize most of the pain I go through is mental. It is a true battleground. I am glad for the trials I have gone through because I have experienced God's comfort through His Word. There is a foundation of peace that runs through me now. I still get upset, frustrated and worry, but i's different. It's not to the same degree and I know I am not alone.

sam says 2.1.2011, 06:32 a.m.

One way opportunites to test our spirtual life and receive life long blessing. and preparing us for second comming. Strengths us as Hen 12.12..

Merenla says 2.1.2011, 01:46 a.m.

At times trials and difficulties we face seems too much to bear but when we go back to the word of God (2 Timothy 2:3) we find hope and encouragement to endure hardship as a good soildier of Jesus Christ. Our God never fails us. He loves us more than anybody else in this world.

Andrea says 1.31.2011, 3:26 p.m.

We come closer to God when we face difficulty, and our faith grows as we trust in His plan. God uses our weakness for His glory in a most amazing way and turns the curse into a blessing. (Nehemiah 13;2). "Our God shall fight for us." (Nehemiah 4:20). God can move mountains, and His ways are perfect, we need to trust.

mick says 1.31.2011, 11:43 a.m.

For most of us, mental affliction far surpasses physical afflictions.
