My Answer

How can I know if it's time for me to change churches? The one I've been going to for the last few years doesn't have any community service projects that I can get involved in, which is something I'd really like to do now that I'm retired. — L.F.

I'm grateful you want to help others in your community; far too many people assume their usefulness is over once they retire. But it doesn't need to be that way; some of God's choicest servants made their greatest impact later in life. Moses (for example) was 80 when God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

I don't know whether or not you should seek another church home -- but God does, and I urge you to pray about this decision and seek His will. As you consider this, however, I hope you'll keep two things in mind. First, no church is perfect. Some people seem to spend their lives looking for one that is -- but they never find it, because it doesn't exist this side of heaven!

Second, don't overlook the good points in your present church. Is the Bible honored as God's Word, and is it preached and taught? Does your church provide other opportunities for your spiritual growth? In other words, don't focus only on the church's shortcomings, but also on its strengths. And are you taking advantage of them?

In addition, don't overlook the possibility that God may want to use you to start a community service project of some type in your present church. It not only could fulfill your desires, but also help others to put their faith into action. The Bible says, "If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, 'Love your neighbor as yourself,' you are doing right" (James 2:8).

If you try to inspire your church but they wont respond because they are steeped in traditionalism, what would you suggest I do. Stay and spiritually die with them or move to a church that believes in the bible being preached.

I had a serious problem with my church - we needed a teacher for specific age and could find no one. I was distraught and upset. Then the Lord showed me it was ME that should fulfil that position. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I agree with Dr Graham regarding looking for the perfect church. When you look at Jesus, then you will see perfection.Perfection of individuals by the Holy Spirit is the work of a lifetime. The only way to make the church perfect is through Jesus.

Just because the church that you attend doesn't have community projects does not mean that you can not get involved in a project elsewhere. Most senior citizen organizations, the Salvation Army, other (Christian) churches to name a few.

Am a Roman Catholic. I do believe that Charity should and must be a pillar of any church. What's the point in just praising the Lord by word of mouth only? The hungry must be fed, the thirsty must be quenched, the naked must be dressed and the hom

We can only caution about changing churches. Can become a habit of looking for the right one and become unfulfilling. If it is your desire to be salt and light for Jesus, be lead by the Holy Spirit to help whenever and wherever He leads.

Great godly wisdom. Other might have jumped on the move and forget about the heart and the service. Thanks.

I believe many times the gospel gets spread when God creates a restlessness within us. If your church is teaching the Word and you are being fed then a natural part of it is growth. Growth becomes a reaching out. Reach out from the roots you have

My previous church was not healthy: Spend most of people's offering on food; don't honor tithing, preach only half truth, don't support mission work, people argue all the time, so I decided to change. Now my christian life is much more healthier.

I agree with Dr.Graham....if your church lacks in an area you have need of, consider starting the ball rolling yourself. You will find it rewarding and be blessed by Him.

Several years ago my husband and I were at a crossroads about our church. Good Word, but no friendship with the people. We counseled with a former pastor and he said stay with the Word. We are so glad we did.
