Franklin Graham Response to the President's Support of Same-Sex Marriage

May 10, 2012 - CHARLOTTE, NC—Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s statement in support of same-sex marriage.

Franklin Graham Response to the President's Support of Same-Sex Marriage

“On Tuesday my state of North Carolina became the 31st state to approve a constitutional amendment defining marriage as being between a man and a woman. While the move to pass amendments defining marriage is relatively new, the definition of marriage is 8,000 years old and was defined not by man, but by God Himself.

In changing his position from that of Senator/candidate Obama, President Obama has, in my view, shaken his fist at the same God who created and defined marriage. It grieves me that our president would now affirm same-sex marriage, though I believe it grieves God even more.

The institution of marriage should not be defined by presidents or polls, governors or the media. The definition was set long ago and changing legislation or policy will never change God’s definition. This is a sad day for America. May God help us.”

A classic message from Billy Graham on the family: In a World of Chaos, Is Your Family Secure?

Thank you Franklin for crying loud and sparing not; lifting up your voice like a trumpet in Zion... showing the people their transgressions and sin. These are signs that we are truly living in the last days. Look up! Our redemption draws near!

Isn't it up to us as Christians to love one another as we are loved, and to not judge others or hold them in contempt? As the mother of four, I will not refuse my full love and acceptance to any of my children, or any other children of God.

ReAnn says 6.14.2012, 12:24 a.m.

Thank you for never budging on God's principles ... so many leaders are compromising to the point of apostasy ... and relieved to see that this ministry is not redefining what's right and wrong ... Amen.

KEEP STANDING FOR TRUTH AND THE BIBLE

Paulraj says 6.5.2012, 00:11 a.m.

Dear Brother Franklyn, We are very much appreciative of your stand point and we grieve over the legal approval of such ungodliness in America that we love... These are the signs of end times and let us continue to preach TRUTH

Kathy says 6.2.2012, 3:01 p.m.

This is so true and it breaks my heart. In Romans God told us what He thinks of Homosexuals and why. Sin of all kinds stems from worshiping the creature instead of the creator.

it could not be said better, by pastor graham, and i well be glad to pray regarding this matter that God has already spoke about, that does it for me, i well follow God anytime regarding marriage.

The wheat and the tares are growing together...and it seems that Harvest is just about here! Thank you Franklin G. and God Bless you!

Jerry says 5.16.2012, 10:10 p.m.

It is time for all believers to take a stand for truth. May we not judge by our merit, but by the Word of God. May we share God's Word with love. This will be the most important election in our lifetime. TRUTH is TRUTH

Dennis says 5.16.2012, 5:35 p.m.

The assault on the truths provided by our creator is continuing and believers are being assaulted ..Perversion being normalized, marriage being perverted, babies in the womb being murdered, the Word of God under attack ...Bless you standing firm.

Greg says 5.14.2012, 2:08 p.m.

Thank you for the response!! Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. His Word never changes.

Nancy says 5.14.2012, 1:38 p.m.

Be wise now therefore,O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.Serve the Lord with fear ,rejoice with trembling.Kiss the Son ,lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little.

Dear brother Franklin:May the God of peace and love bless your wonderful ministry. This is just to tell you we as a Christian church pray for you and for your rewarding ministry. please keep in touch!

Curtis says 5.14.2012, 08:20 a.m.

Thank you Franklin. So many pastors have become so conscience of political correctness that they have forgotten to preach, teach that God condemned this practice many years ago. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Sin yesterday is sin today.

Loretta says 5.13.2012, 11:17 p.m.

The Bible says that if we are friends of the world, we are the enemies of God. As the media reported, more pastors are choosing to be friends of the world but Franklin, you chose to be God's friend. Thank you for taking the bold stand on God's Word.

Beth says 5.13.2012, 8:51 p.m.

Thank you God for men like Franklin Graham. We pray that God will intervene and America will turn back to God. We support you 100

Becki says 5.13.2012, 7:12 p.m.

And so we pray. Thank you Franklin for standing tall as your Father before you. I stand with you. In Jesus Name

Thank you for standing strong! God bless you and your family.

Thank you, so much for speaking out on this subject and interjecting much needed truth into the national conversation on this. Lord help us all to seek Your face and to be a light in the darkness that is about us.

pam says 5.11.2012, 1:43 p.m.

Thank you for stepping up and exhibiting boldness like Apostle Paul. I pray other pastors and leaders will join you in speaking the truth. Beloved of God, we appreciate you, please be encouraged !!!

Sharath says 5.11.2012, 1:35 p.m.

God speaks to people through his servants, like Franklin Graham. This is the reason why we, as the body of believers need to pray for our country, president, people in authority, as God commands us to do. Please America, repent and pray

Kuane says 5.11.2012, 12:42 a.m.

Your father said, sin is the root of all our problems. When man thinks his ways are higher than God's ways, that is defined as a rebellious heart against God Almighty. Our place is to never deny The Truth and share the Good News of Jesus Christ...

Joe says 5.11.2012, 12:26 a.m.

Thank you, brother Franklin, for stating the biblical view. Maranatha!

David says 5.11.2012, 12:18 a.m.

I agree completely. I pray that God will lift up more leaders in this country and around the world that will stand on principles as outlined by God. We should live by what's "popular"; otherwise, we might blindly follow others off a cliff.

Clete says 5.11.2012, 12:13 a.m.

Many people today want to turn the bible into a 21st century bible instead of keeping it in the context it truly was intended to be used for. Many people don't believe it is the word of GOD.

Gigi says 5.11.2012, 12:05 a.m.

God bless the Graham family! There are many Americans who are standing behind God's definition of marriage 100! God bless the USA, and all those who follow the Word! God has already won this battle, and God bless North Carolina!!! :)

Pam says 5.11.2012, 07:27 a.m.

Thank you for making a stand. I have been disappointed at the stance many churches have taken on this issue. Yes without love there is nothing, but there is still right and wrong defined by God. God is justice as well as grace.

Edward says 5.11.2012, 06:45 a.m.

Thank you Franklin for upholding the Truth. I support you 100 percent. It truly a sad day for America.

Susan says 5.11.2012, 00:11 a.m.

I am so grateful to God for His very own definition and total meaning of "marriage" as described as being one man and one woman. God help America. We are so at risk without the Lord's favor and blessing. Pray for our nation.

Tammy says 5.10.2012, 11:41 p.m.

Even though the world changes. (daily) The word of God will never change.

Susan says 5.10.2012, 11:19 p.m.

How I thank God that your comments echo the sentiments of so many believers. Where are all the other voices?

Liz says 5.10.2012, 6:47 p.m.

I am a devout Christian. I do not approve of same-sex marriage, either. but I also strongly support separation of church and state. If God had the power to harden/change Pharaoh's heart, why doesn't he change the hearts of homosexuals?

Herb says 5.10.2012, 4:07 p.m.

I am thankful that there are men and women who will not compromise with God's word. These men and women stand up for what the Bible says. It is not man who can change and dictate what is right and wrong with marriage. God makes that clear to all

Paul says 5.10.2012, 1:39 p.m.

I agree with you completely Franklin. It is not a presidents job to define marriage. Our Creator defined that ages ago and it is still true today. God's Word is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Dennis says 5.10.2012, 11:32 a.m.

Thank you Franklin! God bless.
