An Emergency Update on Japan
A Letter From Franklin Graham
March 18, 2011

The people of this nation are in desperate need of our prayers as well as our help.
by Franklin Graham
I have been sickened, as we all have, by what I have been watching on the news regarding last week’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Just a few short months ago, we were in Osaka, equipping Christians to share their faith and proclaiming the Gospel at a Crusade, where we saw many make decisions for Jesus Christ.
After the tragedy, we contacted the pastor who chaired our Crusade and offered our help. He was overwhelmed by the needs around him and quickly accepted. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association immediately sent $200,000 to our partner churches there, to enable them to begin assisting those in need. BGEA personnel in Japan are already working in response to the disaster, and the Crusade office is serving as the crisis center for our operations.
The people of this nation are in desperate need of our prayers as well as our help. Your financial support will enable us to continue to reach out to them and share the hope of the Gospel in this spiritually needy land.
We want the Japanese people to hear that “‘though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken’ ... says the Lord, who has compassion on you” (Isaiah 54:10, NIV).
God bless you,
Franklin Graham
President
