An Emergency Update on Japan

A Letter From Franklin Graham

An Emergency Update on Japan

The people of this nation are in desperate need of our prayers as well as our help.

An Emergency Update on Japan

I have been sickened, as we all have, by what I have been watching on the news regarding last week’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Just a few short months ago, we were in Osaka, equipping Christians to share their faith and proclaiming the Gospel at a Crusade, where we saw many make decisions for Jesus Christ.

After the tragedy, we contacted the pastor who chaired our Crusade and offered our help. He was overwhelmed by the needs around him and quickly accepted. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association immediately sent $200,000 to our partner churches there, to enable them to begin assisting those in need. BGEA personnel in Japan are already working in response to the disaster, and the Crusade office is serving as the crisis center for our operations.

The people of this nation are in desperate need of our prayers as well as our help. Your financial support will enable us to continue to reach out to them and share the hope of the Gospel in this spiritually needy land.

We want the Japanese people to hear that “‘though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken’ ... says the Lord, who has compassion on you” (Isaiah 54:10, NIV).

God bless you,

Franklin Graham
President

My prayer and hope is people (Christians) will keep praying now, weeks after the disaster that we seek God's power to heal the broken people of Japan. Thru his Holy Spirit and with his timing, and all the glory to his son, Jesus.

May God Bless you, Rudy for your generous gift to the people of Japan. I thank you from my heart as I have family in Tokyo and a deep desire for the people of Japan to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I have sent a check to my home church in Hawaii that is going to the relief effort in Japan. I will also be donating to Samaritan's Purse for their continued work in Japan. I have family in Tokyo and I have prayed for years for them to come to know the Lord. I have also prayed for years that God would send a great multitute of Christians to Japan to share the gospel. The situation in Japan is dire and tragic, however, God is able to move in supernatural ways far beyond anything we can understand. I agree with Franklin Graham...THIS IS JAPAN'S TIME ... today is the day for the Holy Spirit to move across all of Japan to meet their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs. They SO NEED TO HEAR THE HOPE OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST! God Bless Samaritan's Purse and BGEA for your commitment to the people of Japan. I believe God has incredible things in store for Japan as a nation. My prayers for Japan and for the Billy Graham ministry are with you.

I'm sending a check for $1,000.00 in the mail today and will pray for the people of Japan.
