A Miracle in Haiti

Rapid Response Team Chaplains See Immediate Answer to Prayer

November 16, 2010

Loridia, a 64-year-old woman, was taken by her family to the Samaritan's Purse cholera clinic in Bercy, Haiti. Through the night and into the next day Loridia grew worse, and by the afternoon she was unresponsive, even to sharp stimuli. She had a declining heartbeat, and it appeared that she would soon die.

One of the Samaritan’s Purse medical doctors rushed to get the Rapid Response Team chaplains, who were ministering in an adjacent tent. The chaplains were asked to pray for Loridia and her family. Upon reaching her, the chaplains found her cradled in the arms of her weeping adult daughter.

The chaplains began to fervently pray in the name of Jesus that God would restore Loridia's life and take the sickness away. The chaplains continued to pray for some 10 minutes, trusting and believing in the healing touch of The Great Physician, the Lord Jesus.

Then one of the chaplains spoke directly into Loridia’s ear and told her that if she hadn't committed her life to Christ she could do so immediately. The chaplain then told Loridia that her daughter and her grandchildren needed her. He took her hand and asked her to squeeze his hand if she could hear him.

Miraculously, Loridia responded with a squeeze, then opened her eyes widely as she looked straight ahead. The chaplains, doctors and other medical personnel who had gathered around were amazed by the power of prayer and our risen Savior. They all cheered and encouraged Loridia, and gave all the credit to the Lord Jesus Christ. Since this happened, Loridia has physically recovered enough to be at home with the people she loves.

Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti, now facing the cholera epidemic. Please also pray for the Samaritan's Purse relief workers and the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains who minister to the hurting and those who are there to help.

Thank the Lord for this miraculous recovery! Our God is a living God, and cares for those who call upon Him in their time of trouble. Trusting Christ and His finished work on the cross can give us a new life; a more abundant life to be sure. I have trusted Him and He has never failed me yet.
