Sharing the Amazing News of Jesus Christ around the World

We need your prayers and financial support

July 22, 2010 - God has given us incredible opportunities to preach the Gospel in the last six weeks, and more opportunities are coming this month.

Sharing the Amazing News of Jesus Christ around the World

As we move into a busy season of ministry in late summer and fall, BGEA’s income is somewhat down. Pray with us that God will provide resources that match the opportunities He has placed before us.

Sharing the Amazing News of Jesus Christ around the World

At the end of May, I led an evangelistic Crusade in Belo Horizonte, the third largest city in Brazil with a metro population of more than 4 million people. We were scheduled to use the large soccer stadium downtown, but were preempted at the last minute when the city had to change the dates of two championship soccer matches to make way for World Cup qualifying. We moved the Crusade to a megaplex about 10 miles outside the city, and I wondered how people were going to make their way that far out.

To my surprise, thousands came the first evening, with crowds totaling more than 65,000 on the last day, and several thousand people surrendered their hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ. In the days and weeks since then, hundreds of local churches who partnered with us to proclaim the Gospel have been following up individually with those who made decisions.

Immediately after returning from Brazil, I left for China where I had the privilege of proclaiming the Gospel in Harbin, a city of almost 5.5 million located above the Korean peninsula near China’s border with Russia. It is the largest city of northern China and has many active churches. I preached to an overflow crowd at the Hallelujah Church, which seats 8,000, and when I gave an invitation, hundreds stood to make public decisions for Christ.

While in China, a very special opportunity was given to me to visit Huai’an, the city where my mother grew up. She was the daughter of Dr. L. Nelson Bell, a medical missionary in China. The Central Church of Huai’an, a thriving church close to my mother’s birthplace, has opened a training center that will prepare 60 to 70 lay Christians at a time for strategic outreach and ministry. They’ve named it the Ruth Bell Graham Bible Institute and Museum, and it includes a historical exhibit area with artifacts, displays, and media presentations designed to preserve the stories of what God has done through the years in China.

When the Lord held back the waters of the Jordan River to allow the people of Israel to cross near Jericho, He told Joshua to remove 12 large stones from the riverbed and place them nearby as a permanent memorial. Joshua set up the stones and told the people, “When your children ask their fathers in times to come, ‘What do these stones mean?’ then you shall let your children know, ‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground’ … so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty” (Joshua 4:21–22, 24, ESV). The new public exhibit in Huai’an has a very similar purpose, and through it the Gospel is clearly presented.

My daughter, Cissie, and my sister Gigi participated with me in a dedication celebration as, together with our Chinese Christian hosts, we officially opened the center. The next day, on what would have been my mother’s 90th birthday, I preached to more than 5,000 people at a joyful worship service in the Central Church of Huai’an. In the audience were some of my mother’s friends who showed me photos taken with my mother when they were children. It was a wonderful experience for my daughter, my sister, and me to meet them.

What thrilled me the most, however, was when so many stood at the invitation to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. While the church in America is losing religious freedom and struggling to grow, the church in China is gaining freedom and growing rapidly. It’s not perfect by any means, but it certainly has come a long way in the past 20 years. We’ve already received invitations to preach the Gospel in several Chinese cities in 2011. Pray that the Lord will give us wisdom and guidance so that we may reap the harvest the Lord is preparing.

Help Spread the Gospel

You gift can help BGEA spread the Gospel through every available means and to every nation. Donate online today to support Festivals or other ministries.

I’m preparing for another Rock the River Tour, traveling this month across western Canada from British Columbia to Alberta. Young, high-energy Christian bands will play for about an hour and a half, and then I will get up and preach Christ and trust God for a harvest. The bands will play again, and I’ll return to preach, and trust God to convict of sin and righteousness. More live music will follow, and I’ll preach God’s Gospel again and trust Him to work through the power of the Holy Spirit. Pray for me that God will give me strength, that many young people will be delivered from a hedonistic lifestyle of sex and drugs, and that the power of the Gospel will save them from Hell.

Last summer, God brought thousands of young people to saving faith as we took Rock the River up the Mississippi from Baton Rouge to Minneapolis, and I would appreciate your prayers this month for our outreach in the cities of the Fraser Valley near Vancouver, and then in Edmonton and Calgary.

Like the United States, Canada is an increasingly secularized, godless culture in great need of the Gospel. Pray for a great harvest.

As we move into a busy season of ministry in late summer and fall, BGEA’s income is somewhat down. Pray with us that God will provide resources that match the opportunities He has placed before us. Any financial gift you can give this month would be greatly appreciated. It would be an investment in reaching souls, and we are thankful for your generosity.

My father is well for his age, and his mind is clear. He wants to preach again and is hoping the Lord might give him strength to do so in coming months. I know he would appreciate your prayers.

Thank you, and may God richly bless you,

Franklin Graham

ROCK THE RIVER TOUR

The largest generation in our history knows less about Jesus than any generation before, yet they have a deep hunger for truth. Your gift of any amount can help produce an immediate dividend still this summer as teens and young adults hear and respond to the life-changing Gospel through our Rock the River Tour outreach.

CRUSADES

After the Rock the River youth outreach, we will hold an evangelistic Crusade in Osaka, Japan. Shinto and Buddhism are the dominant religions in Japan, and 2 percent of the people know Christ. We need your urgent prayers. Then we’ll go to Latvia for a Crusade, on Russia’s western border. Your gift today will help us bring the Good News to people in Asia and Europe who desperately need Jesus.

Matthew 7:21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. - Praise the Lord - First thing in the morning- Praise the Lord Jesus all through the day- Know that when you come to the Lord Jesus he hears you. When you learn about our Lord Jesus you will no longer need. My prayer: Lord Jesus, Forgive me for the sins that I have committed against the Father. Show mercy on my soul and fill me with the knowlege of your ever loving will. Guard me from danger Lord and place peaceful words in my mouth. If it is your will Lord please heal our nation and allow our countrymen to find work for their hands. Father allow the evil root that has been planted in our country to be cut from it's root and place our country back into the hands of your good and faithful servants. Lord I ask you to heal our land, economy, businesses, families, and to continue to show mercy on the lost people that are still wandering in the wilderness, empty and trusting in their own strength. Father have mercy on those that have yet to spend time with you in the Word, in their free moments, speak to them Lord and show them that we are counting on them to come to the Truth by your Grace and Lovingkindness. My prayer to you Lord Jesus is that you continue to bring health and prosperity to Franklin. Fill him with strength as you have his father Billy. Guard his path and protect him as he spreads your Truth and good news.

Perfect timing!!. Pastor Graham, like Linda I have been kind of confused with Larry King's interview, in addition to comments from Christ Followers questioning the position of Billy Graham Association. To tell you the truth, I was hesitant to support financially. Now more than ever we need to stand clear and bold on what the Gospel of Jesus truly is. Thank you and KEEP UP!

It's such a blessing to hear all that God is doing in China. We lived in China for 7 years and we love the people of China, they are such devoted and hard-working people. We have adopted two of our own precious blessings. Praise God for all that Ruth and her family gave while in China and continues to give. I've read the book, "Ruth" and several of Billy Graham's books. What a blessing to hear what God is doing through all of you in China and around the world. Glory Be to Him. God's Blessings as you go forth and teach all nations, nothing is impossible with God. In Jesus Love and prayers.

Joe says 8.5.2010, 00:36 a.m.

Praise God regarding the open door of ministry in communist China, however let us not forget our brethren in the house churches, pray for them for they suffer for Jesus for there is little freedom in China. You can bet that the secret police was watching who stood up to receive Christ. Pray for ministries such as Voice of the Martyrs. The wind of the Holy Spirit can not be stopped by a brutal regime. Even as the crackdown continues thousands come to Jesus daily.

What a great track record of your family's faithful heart of ministry. Listening and watching your dad from years gone by as well as reading and listening to you, has been a delight for my soul. As I read some of your mom's books I learned to admired her strength. Now, looking at the full picturel serves to the reality of God's perfect plan for Jesus's Salvation message to be given to all men. This recent letter proves it.God Bless and keep you all keepin on in Jesus Name. Immanuel, Rose

God works through ordinary people in their ordinary lives to spread the gospel! Please encourage EVERYONE to post Bible Verses on their Facebook and Twitter newsfeeds! Encourage people to join the cause (on Facebook!) "Change the World" (the internet world--ONE VERSE AT A TIME!)

Bryan says 8.1.2010, 7:15 p.m.

I thank God for Billy and all of the years he served God in ministry. His impact on our nations presidents tells of the integrity he has built by knowing Gods will through hearing the word and sharing the good news of the Gospel. It is great to see Franklin carry on the same ministry for yet another generation. I am thankful for your stand against the apostate condition in this nation and around the free world. My family thanks God for you Billy, Franklin and Ann. May God bless your family richly.

Jill says 8.1.2010, 3:27 p.m.

I read this article also in your magazine. I was blessed by it! I know God loves ALL people, although not everyone loves Him back,(due to pride or ignorance that only Holy Word of God is the Bible) many countries simply need SOMEONE to TELL them (as Scripture says) so they can freely hear God's Word! The Holy Spirit will draw them, convict them of their sins, (just like me) so they can know God! It is wonderful work for the Lord you do all over the world! We serioulsy need to PRAY for your ministry, and others who do just that! Reach out to the forgotten, not just in other countries, but the USA as well! No matter who you are, where you are from, or what you did, if you simply Trust Jesus as you Personal Savior, repent from your sins, You Are Saved ! ...we need to PRAY for America, our leaders, our government, that their hearts and minds will be turned to the Lord!

Rose says 8.1.2010, 3:21 p.m.

I praise God for those that are obedient to His call. I am believing for a GREAT harvest of souls and that God's power would be made manifest all around the world. We are truly living in one of the greatest times in history and believe that this generation will see the Lord's return. We will see revival come to the U.S. and nations around the world.

TERESA says 8.1.2010, 2:44 p.m.

We had the opportunity to hear Dr Franklin Graham this morning in person. What a joy to hear his message. I pray for this ministry to impact lives everywhere. We need this message here in America just as it is needed across the seas!

Arthur says 7.31.2010, 11:27 a.m.

Back in the early 60's I worked in the home office in Minneapolis, MN and the St Paul Crusade. I have always been touched by the vision and compassion of the Billy Graham Organization. My support will last as long as I have funds to send.

daniel says 7.31.2010, 07:55 a.m.

Woe to those who have and like hypocrites take more, or who can help themselves and yet receive. For everyone who receives something shall render an account to God the Lord on the day of judgment why he received…He who simply gives to everybody gives well and is blameless. He who accepts when destitute…accepts well and shall be exalted by God in eternal life.

Donna says 7.31.2010, 05:03 a.m.

Thank you Michael for being faithful and sharing your heart and message of encouragement for us. Your comment touched my heart wrenching soul and reminded me of the strength of our Almighty God and that nothing is too big for him to handle. All praise and Glory to the Lord for his awesome care and comfort during times of deep despair.

Linda says 7.30.2010, 8:46 p.m.

Matt 9:37 We will be co-laborers with you on our knees in prayer!Blessings:)

Richard says 7.30.2010, 1:47 p.m.

Thank God for BGEA and the Godly leadership. Billy Graham has been the most influential person to preach the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ throughout the world. I truly believe when every living person has had the opportunity to hear the gospel, God will send His Son. (Hallejuah!!) Meanwhile, as Christians we all need to be about our Father's business. (Testifying and Living for Jesus). The BGEA is busy about going to places all of us cannot go spreading the "Good News". Praise God for all of our missionaries everywhere in the world.

Amazing. God is at work says 7.30.2010, 1:46 p.m.

God is at work in the hearts of men. Billy Graham and his son and daughter have been faithful to preaching The Good News. Brazil's article about people coming to the site where they met, after the first stadium was cancelled is something ONLY GOD can do. He desires to have fellowship with us and His love is Everlasting, no matter who we are, or how terrible we think we are. Only Jesus could love us so much as to give up His Life for our sins. Let us worship and Praise The Lord Jesus. Let us be thankful for his faithful servants that are out there faithfully spreading The Good News.

Theresa says 7.30.2010, 12:00 a.m.

Have always appreciated the ministry of your Father, Billy and you and your family. Pray for you all as you reach out to the lost, confused, and those who need Christ in their daily lives. Thank the Lord for the salvation and commitment of so many around the world; but I am terribly burdened for our America. More crusades for America in the near future??? God help the young people !

Martha says 7.30.2010, 10:41 a.m.

Thank God for the Grahams---I have been to The Billy Graham Library several times and will go again every chance I can. Every time is a new experience. I have several books of Billy,Franklin and Ann. I have grown spiritually since following the Grahams---My friend and I were in Charleston,S.C. for the crusade. My prayer is that God will grant Rev.Billy his desire to preach one more time. God Bless all the Grahams-- I love you all.

Wesley says 7.30.2010, 08:42 a.m.

Love that man and pray for generations not only of his physical offspring but also for the many who are preaching that were saved and encouraged by his preaching to have the venues God has planned for them. may we together finish the job. Disciples in every neighborhood of the world.

Wayne says 7.30.2010, 07:43 a.m.

God showed me a while ago that He was going to do a work in China! This is only proof that the satanic strongholds of atheistic communism are crumbling!! How wonderful that Franklin Graham has been invited to speak in other cities across China!! Maybe the suffering of the church in China is finally coming to an end!!!

Helen says 7.29.2010, 11:48 p.m.

I have always wanted to meet Billly Graham. I used to always watch his crusades on T.V. I hope someday he will come to Dalton, Ga. or somewhere close so I can see him. He is one of my favorite people and I have great respect for him.

Vicky says 7.29.2010, 11:18 p.m.

I thank God for the family of Billy Graham! How glorious it is that Billy's work is being continued throughout the world! I pray for the continuous ministry of the BGEA. Our world so needs this God-given ministry. I also pray that God will give Billy, our nation's pastor, the strength and perseverance to preach another sermon. I hope he chooses to preach in our United States of America -- we so need God's words of encouragement and love.

For those struggling, doubtful, hurtful, or in despair, let it be known that God cares and will always sustain you! The Holy Trinity, was, is, and always will be alive and well (regardless what the world may think)! To guide you, support you, and to love you unconditionally. We get so fixated on this world, believing it to be the be all, and end all of our existence, but there's a very real spiritual world (that's never ending) out there, too! Only our Perfect Lord Jesus Christ, will ultimately never let you down, but will love, save, renew, and be with you always! So repent, and always remember, God, is, was, and will be always be our True Love! Only He will love you the most completely, purely, and will not ultimately disappoint. He will (if you let Him) lead you to be the person we each were meant to be. Repent, and have faith, that should be questioning, explored, and experienced. Then and only then, you will truthfully know the only true way is to the Holy Trinity. Trust and love God, and love each other always!

Are these churches in Chine the state churches with the watered down gospel for select age groups?

Gene says 7.29.2010, 4:14 p.m.

Praise God for such uplifting news! Two weeks ago I met a young Chinese man who became a Christian as a result of some Americans who were in China. I was amazed at how God was opening up that land again. I found his word hard to believe, but you confirmed what he told me. I rejoice and praise the faithfulness of our God to reach the hearts of people in our sick world.

Mark McDowell says 7.29.2010, 4:08 p.m.

I thank God for using the Graham family to share the Gospel all over the world. It has been my honor to support the BGEA in prayer and in giving to the Lord Jesus through them.

So glad to hear the China report. In aid to your effort I have a book for sale at the International Book Fair held this weekend in Beijing. The book will sound familiar if you know some of the Old Testament Bible stories. You know the kind, how God picks the least of the least and uses them to bring a nation to Him. Except the time is now and the nation is the U.S. Includes clear salvation message.

NoThe scripture rma says 7.29.2010, 1:04 p.m.

I love reading the many testimonies,Il to hear about about what the Lord is doing through the BEGA ministry. The scripture tells us to pray for one another. We serve a prayer answering God. Thank God for the teaching. Keep loking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. In Jesus name. Keep up the good work for the Lord.

Judith says 7.29.2010, 12:55 a.m.

Your father has blessed so many with his preaching of the Gospel. I pray that GOD will grant him his desire to preach again.

Donald says 7.29.2010, 11:09 a.m.

With the Holy Spirit moving to lead so many to Christ through your preaching of the Word so that they may hear and be saved by Grace through Faith I can only give the Glory to God. Here in the USA we are faced with many churches that do not preach the gospel, that embrace emergent philosophies as well as replacement theology. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will prepare the hearts of those being misled to hear the gospel and to accept Christ. As a worker in the field of Prison Ministry I see evidence of God working to bring many to Him. May your ministry be blessed and may your heart be led to always preach the truth in all circumstances.

KEVIN says 7.29.2010, 10:49 a.m.

It was the '60's and as she shared I learned of far off places that were preparing to host Rev. Billy and his team, then the reports of those thousands who came to claim Jesus as Lord. Thank You for blessing me all over again and thank you for continue the hard work of the Gospel.

He is, indeed, calling His Church to prayer and confession -- His Followers; not the masses. We Christians have the formula for saving this nation. Let's get on our faces before God, faithfully, knowing He is faithful. Then let us be among those nations adding numbers to His Church! :-)

My mother always loved to listen to Billy Graham and made sure we did to. I remember as a very young child in the summer the local theatre had a special price for movies in the summer for the kids. I went one day with my cousins and it was a Christian movie. I don't remember what the movie was but I do remember that at the end of the movie Billy Graham gave an invitation to accept Christ and there were representatives of his ministry there to pray with you. I always enjoyed hearing him and I am pleased to know that you, Franklin and your family are carrying on his work. Your family has always been a continuous present in our home all of my life. I look forward to hearing your father preach again.

On recent trips within the USA, I have listened to many taxi drivers of other nations express concern of the lack of human core values and turning from God in the USA. These men have lived as youth in nations that neglect God and see that the USA in on a destructive path. These now proudly legal citizens and their families are praying for the USA to turn back to God. On recent trips outside the USA, peoples of these nations see what is within the USA and are praying for USA to turn back and worship God. We need a strong unifying leader that can speak to the powerful and the weak and does not concern with political correctness but speaks the truth of God and His word.

I am so happy to see the continuation of the Billy Graham ministry, this is a rock solid ministry because it is built on that solid foundation of our Lord Jesus Christ and my prayers are for all of your ministers, missonaries and helps, to continue to reach around the world and back to the highways and hedges of America. May God richly bless this ministry

You do a great work. I am so sorry I can't give at this tjme... we have a daughter on the mission field in Niarobi, Kenya and serving also in Mbita Kenya, She is struggling for support to be able to stay there. We are retired, living on a modest income and feel God would have us give our support to help her now. Thank you so much for the great work

Reading Billy Graham's testimonies for God is always reviving. I pray that your ministry will continue to spread around the world, reaching my grandchildrens children, and up to the generation of His coming for all power is given unto you by our Lord Jesus Christ. (Matt.28:18)

There is no indication that the church is gaining freedom in China. According to the house church leaders, there has recently been a new wave of intense persecution. But with 130 million Christians strong, the Chinese government is fighting a losing battle against God. I truly believe that within 20 years, the political bands of communism will dissolve and China will embrace the cross.

Thanking God that He is moving around the world - praying that He will raise up a strong and mighty godly man to speak in America - if ever a nation needed revival it is our nation. 11 Chron. 7:14 I believe it's time all across America to call the church to prayer and confession - we've been apathetic way too long!! Only God can forgive our sins and heal our land!!
