Thousands accept Christ as Franklin Graham Festival concludes
May 29, 2010 - On a moonlit night in Belo Horizonte, 25,000 people heard Franklin Graham preach the pure and simple Gospel of Jesus Christ.

When I heard Franklin speak, I knew he was sincere. I felt I could trust what he told me about Jesus.— Antonio
by Janet Chismar
Drawing on the story of the prodigal son, Graham first shared how he came to know Jesus, then showed the audience how they, too, could find eternal life in Christ.
Graham emphasized God’s love and His justice, reminding people that they need to repent from their sins. He talked about alcohol, drugs, rebellion and other issues that many struggle with—around the world.
“When I heard Franklin speak,” said Antonio, “I knew he was sincere. I felt I could trust what he told me about Jesus.” The 19-year old grew up in the church, but left after a pastor scolded him for falling asleep during a service.
“I have done so many bad things since then,” Antonio shared. “I have been using a lot of drugs. My girlfriend is pregnant and I asked her to have an abortion. But now I must follow Jesus. It will be hard, but I want to have our baby.”
Antonio is one of hundreds in Belo Horizonte who have either recommitted their lives to Christ or accepted His salvation for the very first time.
The day began with FestKids, an event full of music, clowns, stories and fun that drew approximately 40,000 kids and parents to the Mega Space grounds. Ana Paula, a very popular worship leader in Brazil, sang at both services. We’ll bring you a special interview with Ana tomorrow.
Over the next several days, watch for other stories of how this Festival has impacted the church in Belo Horizonte and the people in this city.

Please pray for all the people who accepted Christ in Brazil over the last three days, that they will grow in their faith and find a church home!
