My Answer

I know you are very persuasive, but frankly I don't have any need of God. I've gotten along just fine without God, and I don't see any reason to change. Religion may be fine for some people but it's not for me. — D.N.

Have you ever asked yourself why you don't want anything to do with God? It isn't, I suspect, just because you're satisfied with your present life. Instead, it is something much deeper—and I challenge you to face it honestly.

Why don't you want anything to do with God? The reason, frankly, is because you want to run your own life. You want to be in control, and you want to be free to do anything you want to do without anyone interfering—including God. And down inside, you know that if you took God seriously and honestly gave your life to Christ, He would begin to lead you in a new path. He would be in control of your life, and He would turn you away from some of the things you are doing.

But have you honestly counted the cost of leaving God out of your life? For one thing, God knows far better than you do what is best for you; why not let Him show it to you? The Bible says, "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless" (Psalm 18:30). Don't let your pride, or anything else, keep you from discovering God's perfect plan for your life.

In addition, someday your life will be over, and you will enter eternity. But at present, you are unprepared for that day, and you have no hope of the joy and peace God promises to those who belong to Him. Face honestly your need of Christ, and open your heart and life to Him without delay.
