My Answer

I've given up on God because He doesn't seem to care about me. I can't even begin to list all the problems I have—money, health, job, family tensions, you name it. I know you say God cares about us but I haven't seen any evidence of it in my life. — Mrs. L.W.

Have you ever stopped to list the good things in your life? Sometimes we get so caught up with the bad things that are happening to us that we fail to see the other side. As the old hymn says, "Count your many blessings; name them one by one—and it will surprise you what the Lord has done."

Don't misunderstand me, however; your problems are real, and I know that at times it seems like God has forgotten you or hidden His face from you. Even some of the Bible's greatest men and women felt that way on occasion. In the midst of his pain and loss, Job cried out, "Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me?" (Job 10:8).

But in time Job realized that God still loved him, and even if he didn't understand why he was experiencing so much suffering and heartache, God still could be trusted. The turning point came when Job looked beyond his problems and focused instead on God and His greatness and love. Then he could say, "I know that my Redeemer lives" (Job 19:25).

This is why I urge you to turn to Christ and ask Him to come into your life. God loves you—and the proof is that His only Son was willing to endure the pain and death of the cross for you. Open your heart to Him, and then ask Him to give you the wisdom to change what you can, and the courage to endure what you can't.

At one time I did ask similar questions. God's answer to me was "by continuing to dwell on your problems you are magnifying what the devil has done and will continue to do. Why dont you instead dwell and seek what I can do" I ask God what I could do to l achieve this and He said, list all the questions you have for me, then read the Bible from Genesis to Revelations and you will find all my answers. I started to do this, and even in the first paragraph of the Bible I had answers., not easy when you are hurting but it can be the most strengthening, peace giving and comforting process. I am still doing it please try it.

Yvette, I relate to your post. After someone very close to me died, and I turned to other Christians for support (including people at a new church) they either ignored me, or some of them criticized me, gave me advice, or judged me - when what I needed was unconditional love and non judgmental support.

I don't know what to do anymore? I no longer know God? In my time of deepest despair I turned to the Church and was shunned and rejected. Now, I'm remembering the abandonment and rejection as a child and I don't know what to do anymore? I desperately want friends but don't know how to keep them? I don't think I even trust God anymore...
