My Answer

What exactly is wrong with pornography, in your opinion? I have a friend at work who's into pornography fairly deeply (mainly on the Internet), and when I challenged him about it he told me he didn't see anything wrong with it. I'm afraid I couldn't think of a good answer. — Z.M.

Let me reverse your question and ask it this way: What exactly is right with pornography? The answer is simple: absolutely nothing. It is a total perversion of one of God's greatest gifts to us—the gift of sexual intimacy between a husband and wife.

I could answer your question in many ways, of course, but in this limited space let me point out two reasons why pornography is wrong. First, it's wrong because of what it does to us. It appeals only to our self-centered, sinful, pleasure-seeking nature, and the more we get involved with it, the more we feed that nature and become captives to it. The Bible says, "The sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit. ... They are in conflict with each other" (Galatians 5:17).

Pornography is also wrong because of what it does to others. It treats others not as people but as objects, as playthings for our own selfish gratification. In other words, lust replaces love and that is wrong. This, incidentally, is why marriages based only on physical attraction seldom last.

Pray for your friend, not only that he will be freed from his captivity to pornography, but that he will turn his life over to Christ. Only Christ can forgive our sins, and only He can fill our lives with true joy and peace. Is your life committed to Him?

Yes, I. have a struggle with pornography and I'm currently seeking God's guidance from scripture to helpMe overcome...1 corinthians 10:13 is a great verse to memorize and meditate on ( There hath no temptationTaken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above That ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.) the Bible says a great deal about sex and sexual sins...I repent and I'm willing to turn from my evil desires..Thank you lord...amen. Also Satan finds weakness in our lives and hammers away... In Matthew 17:14-21

Dear J.S.,I sincerely hear what you are saying, and want to let you know that I have struggled with the same exact thing! However, what has helped me is just giving myself permission to do get my senses onto other things. I know it's not easy but, with the Lord's help "all things are possible through Christ who gives us strength". (Romans 3:23).P.S Go to youtube.com and look @ Billy's video on "Just say No". It always inspires me!

I'm afraid I, also, must come clean and admit that I've been guilty of the same thing here recently. I've an addiction to pornography. What's sorry is that I don't WANT to do it, but in the end I still find myself doing it. I sometimes just wish there was a sure-fire way to 100 eliminate it completely.Whenever I turn to God, the lusts burn even worse! I definitely need prayer, because this is a hard battle I find myself fighting every day and it's never ceasing.
