My Answer

How bad will the world have to get before God will step in and judge it? I get so discouraged sometimes when I read the headlines, and I wish God would just bring an end to it all. — Mrs. D.W.

Let me assure you that someday God will bring an end to all the evil and heartache of our world—when Christ comes again to establish His Kingdom.

When He comes, He will banish all evil and replace it with His perfect righteousness and peace. All the sin and evil of this world will disappear, and our world will once again be what God meant for it to be. No, we can't fully imagine that—but what a glorious day it will be! No wonder the Bible calls Christ's second coming "the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13).

But in the meantime, Satan is still at work, and his terrible footprints are seen all around us. We live in a world where good and evil battle daily—and that battle will continue until Christ comes again. Until that day, you and I are called to be faithful—faithful to the Gospel, and faithful in living the way God wants us to live. Is this your goal?

Yes, the world may be dark—but don't give up, and don't give in to despair! Instead, make it your goal to live for Christ right where you are. Jesus said, "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). No, we don't know exactly when Christ will come again. But we know that He will—and when He does, the darkness will vanish in the light of His righteousness.
