My Answer

I've been unemployed for over a year, and I've given up even looking for a job. My life seems so hopeless. All I do is sit around the house and watch television while my wife nags me to get a job. How can I get out of this pit? — D.C.

My heart goes out to you and to all those who have lost their jobs recently. Unemployment often not only affects people economically, but also emotionally and spiritually. The Bible says, "A man can do nothing better than to ... find satisfaction in his work" (Ecclesiastes 2:24).

The most important thing I can tell you is that God knows your situation and He cares for you and has a plan for your future. Our lives are never hopeless when we put them in God's hands! This is why the most important step you can take right now is to open your heart to Christ and ask Him to help you. By a simple prayer of faith put your life into His hands and ask Him to guide you. The Bible says, "As for God, his way is perfect" (Psalm 18:30).

Then ask Him to give you the desire to do whatever you need to do to find another job. It's been said that our first step is often our hardest—and it's true. But if you know Christ, you do not take it alone. Trust Him to guide you to the job He has already prepared for you. If you need retraining, ask Him to open that door also.

In the meantime, take your free time as a gift from God and ask Him to help you use it wisely. Do projects around the house, for example, or volunteer to help others in your community or church.

I've been working on contract for two years which will terminate in a couple of months and I can't find a job and I have a baby on the way. I trust God and believe His promises but nothing positive ever comes my way ever. I'm not a bad person at all.

I have been struggling with my work life since 10 yrs. Firstly I took over my dads business after his illness and tried to run it, but it was under bad debts and then my uncle who asked us to do patnership with his son, left us mid-way of our new set-up bringing us to a point to sell our family house to clear all our debts. Then I started a new venture to start fresh and buy a house and settle down. After 6 years of starting the venture I am still struggling to run the house. It seems all a mess especially when your siblings support and insult at the same time. I pray to my Abba Father in Jesus name to deliver me from the entire situation.

Wow. I had no idea how many other Christians are without a job. My position was terminated a year ago May. I am 53 years old with health issues so finding another job in a small Midwestern community is difficult to say the least. What I do have is faith that God will provide for me and that faith is strengthened as the months go by. I keep reminding myself about what Jesus said in Matthew 6:25-34 part of which is "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" To each of you who are discouraged, please read this scripture. I pray for each unemployed/underemployed person and would also appreciate your prayers as well for God's will, not mine, to be done. Thank you.

Hi ,After reading everyone's post I felt like sharing my testimony about how God proved Himself to be "Jehovah Jireh" The God who provides. I got married to my husband in 1999 and he was the only one who worked (I was not allowed to work because of my dependant visa status). He was laid off in his job and we were without job for nearly 2 1/2 years and my husband tried to start and run a business with money on credit cards and adding huge debt to no income. It was a very tough time for us but God did not let us go with out food or shelter even for a day. During those years we were working hard trying to run the business but without any reward. Thats when I prayed to God saying" Lord we have been working hard without any pay.....our situation reminds me of Peter's words that they toiled all night but did not catch any fish" So please help us Lord in this time of need. Do some financial miracle so that my husband will be in awe of you like Peter was when he saw the abundance of fish. I prayed and left it to God believeing that He heard our prayer......Few weeks later God supernaturally provided us $85,095 .At I could'nt believe my eyes.....i thought it is some 8 thousand dollars(which also is a huge amount for us) but God did a miracle above all that we can ask think or imagine. He is alive, He hears our prayers and He is able to provide because His Name itself in Jehovah Jireh. Praise Jesus.

GOD IS GOD!!!! The bible says in 2 Thessalonians 5:17 that give thanks to GOD in all circumstances, however at times it is hard to do so because of our unbelief, He has promised to provide and to stand with us in the midst of the storms (please read ISAIAH 50:10."Is any of you walking in darkness with no hope.... ") we always tend to forget that nothing takes GOD by surprise- not even losing a job. At times he takes us through these trials to strengthen our faith in him. I have personally never experienced unemployment but I know how it feels to be needy and a begger because i grew up an orphan. Be still and know that it is GOD in control (psalms46:10) and that he is never in a hurry. He will bless you with a job at his opportune time. Do not lose heart. Ephesians 3:20 says that he is able to do exceeding and abundantly more than we can ever ask or think of IN OUR LIVES. therefore do not magnify your problem but magnify your GOD.Worship him!! the bible says in 2nd CHRONICLES that God draws near in the praises of his people.DO NOT LOSE HEART. YOU WILL NEVER STAND ALONE.GOD IS WITH U.

To Patrick- the Enemy has been defeated, not you. speak the Truth- Christ paid a heavy price for us on the cross, and He defeated the Enemy. You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus! God's Word is power, so speak the truth over your Life. This is what I have learned to do too. We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. Call out to Jesus, He is our victory! And He is there!!!! I will pray for those who posted, as I also pray for myself!

I would just like to say that although I pray that everyone finds a job, it is encouraging to see that I am not in this alone. I think that the devil tries to make each of us think that we are the only one having problems, and that we are alone and abandoned. But that is a lie! We are not alone, God is with us always! I've been out of work for 3 years and I kept looking for jobs before I got married and would never get hired. The reason I didn't is because I made too many mistakes at my cleaning job and on the last day of my 90-days and lost it. I was upset at first, but I realized I had talked too much and thats what messed it up for me. I know that God has something better in store for me and I just have to realize that and not this get to me so much. I'm a housewife and I can handle that and it doesn't bother me at all, because I take care of my home and that's not all that matters to me. The Lord comes first in everything I say and do even though I don't think sometimes when I open my mouth. My point is just keep praying and the lord will give you strength to deal with this trial in your life.

Mildred says 9.7.2010, 11:40 a.m.

My husband has been out of work since 3/31/2009. Due to a surgery gone wrong (no, we didn't/couldn't sue and just have to live with it), my husband cannot talk above a whisper. We are both over 50 and he acts like he's given up. I'm discourged as I see the end of the unemployment compensation. I've already had to cancel my health insurance (COBRA) to pay for his as he's a diabetic. Where is God? I pray all the time but nothing seems to pan out.

I'm 56 and have been unemployed for Two years now. I'm also a full time single dad with two children left at home, a middle schooler and a high schooler. We lost our home last May and now live in our camper. Unemployment Insurance is all used up now.It doesn't look so good for us. Winter is coming and the camper simply isn't going to work out here in Minnesota. I worked for 35 years as a design engineer.Wished I had some encouragement but simply do not. We're defeated

About two years ago , my husband and I both felt the sting of a spiraling economy. I have since found an ok job. My husband on the other hand just doesn't asct he really wants to find a job. When I have tried to encourage him , it just seemed to backfire and he gets angry with me. We are on the verge of losing our home and our behind on other bills, and not to mention the impact this is having on our marriage. I have prayed, and I know that God will ALWAYS provide, but I feel like I am at the end of my rope. I love my husband, but 2 years is a long time to be without a job, especilally when you're not really trying.

Ann says 9.6.2010, 1:42 p.m.

My husband does custom harvesting in California. Because of water and other reasons, the work is getting less and less. His dad has done this all his life. This is all my husband has done. They look and look for work and it is not there. My husband is down, his self confidence is down. He needs encouragement. We also are dealing with a neighbor that is harrassing us. He is using bad language toward my husband and son. I cry for my husband's self-esteem. I cry for how our family is treated by this neighbor. It seems we are getting hit from all sides. BUT...I know God loves us and knows what is happening. I give it all to God, but I then to hold on to it too. We just need alot of prayer.

Ed says 9.6.2010, 05:54 a.m.

I was made redundant as of July this year. Prior to this I had applied for other jobs intensely, however, my applications either neither received acknowledgement or I attended interview, but wasn't appointed. Since being laid off 2 months I have searched and applied for jobs daily, over 60 now. I've had a couple of interviews, again, not being appointed. My fiancee and I continue to pray like crazy, however, the situation isn't improving. Consequently, my health is suffering and I can't sleep too well at night. I feel demoralised and depressed. I want to work, I've always worked and am highly qualified in 2 professions and experienced. This time this doesn't seem to count. The problem is that there are masses of people in my predicament and here, in England, jobs are made more readily to foreigners and immigrants than myself. God is speaking to me, but doesn't seem to be actually doing anything. I have been told by a Christian that I need to seek a new career path, however, I have absolutely no idea which way to turn. Being unemployed does, of course, have its financial impact, but also its psychological, health and spiritual effects too. On the one hand, I believe that God will meet my need, but, on the other, I keep fearing the worst. For months I have felt like a dog chasing its tail. Moreover, not having an income is preventing me from moving on in my life and marrying my fiancee, which hurts.

Carolyn says 9.5.2010, 10:56 p.m.

I quit my job of more than 10 years this past December 21, 2009, because of the verbal and emotional abuse I received almost daily from my employer. When I started there, I know that God divinely placed me there; however, my employer became very verbally and emotionally abusive as the years went by and, although the stress was affecting my health, I hung in there. However, last December, he said something that was very cruel and made me cry so I told him I couldn't take it any more and I walked out. Before I left, he told me that I would never be able to find another job amd I haven't been able to find one since. I have applied for over 700 jobs and I am listed with 11 employment agencies. I have to believe it is age discrimination. I have tested very well at all of the agencies where I taken tests. I have excellent computer skills; I take shorthand; I've handled accounts receivable/payable; purchasing, facilities issues, and payroll; I've been an executive secretary, a bookkeeper, a property manager, and a Corporate secretary. I am very professional in my attitude and appearance and I always treat customers and my business associates with respect. I am a loyal, hard-working employee who is always willing to go the extra mile and now I can't get a job. I need to work and I am not in a position to retire at this time. I don't know what I am going to do. I know that God is in control but I am alone and scared.

When I lost my job on June 30th 2005, I went to Beddington Pentecostal church worried and depressed, I received prayed. I got a temp job within two weeks and then secured a permanent job until Jan 2010 when I was laid off. My husband left me 11 years ago and with this income I was able to make ends meet. Your prayer's are very effective, hence I am writing to you seeking prayer for me as to what direction I need to take at this junction. I am on Employment Insurance at the present time. I am not the same person prior to Jan 2010 as I have become sloppy with TIME and by the end of the day when I look back, I have not done anything constructive. I have faced like most others a fair share of trials and with the grace of God I have overcome each one of these without going to a depressed state of mind. I want to feel strong today at this point of my life because I still need to care for my mum who is in a nursing home and I visit her daily. That too is a battle in regards to getting the best care for her. I am quite worried as to what direction I need to take now regarding my career too. I am over 65. The pension I will receive after my EI ends is very minimum, and I need to supplement my revenue once the EI ends by working even Part Time. Can you please pray for me for Gods direction? I also have health issues which need prayer. I don’t want to make this comment lengthy and depressing, but the aim of it is to request prayer for me to find GODS DIRECTION and GRACE. Thank you

Just to clear up things, I am not blaming anyone of the circumstance that happened. It was God's plan. I left a high paying job 6 years ago to answer the call in my life to be a secretary of the church. Due to staff downsizing due to financial constraints, after working there for 5 years, I found myself without a job. Worst thing is, I cannot get subsidiary help from the government as I worked for non-profit organization. As of now, I still don't have a job but I am not hopeless. If he can take care of the birds in the air and grass in the fields, I have the faith job is in the horizon. His Word says, "I know how to have and be without", I have not seen His children begging for bread. And guess what? Even in my scarcity, I find that I can trust God more than ever. Don't be discouraged, HELP IS ON THE WAY!

Our financial struggles today will be our greatest wealth we can share to others for tommorow if we'll look at them with faith in the goodness of our Lord. When Habakkuk asked God as to why He seemed to be ignoring tragedies happening around, God said to him, "I am accomplishing many things you do not know and even if i told them to you you'llnever comprehend. The just shall live by faith". Purpose in our heart to trust God no matter what for He is good. He loves you and that never changed.

I was laid off 16 months ago and in the past year my husband has been laid off twice. We've both worked steady for the past 20 years, so it's a huge surprise to be out of work. I try to look at this time off as a gift from God, but it's so hard to enjoy when I'm worried about getting the bills paid and if checks are going to bounce. I'm in my 40s and my husband is in his 50s and had a heart attack 2 years ago. We just lost our insurance on Aug 30 and hope that we can find $$ to afford COBRA. We're facing age discrimination and have 2 kids in school. I'm having health problems now too and have put on 30 pounds. I'm so broken - I'm beyond broken. I'm not sure that I could work a job if I found one. I keep praying and leaving it in Gods hands. A miracle is what we're going to need to make it through this time.

I live in rural America and it is almost impossible to find volunteer opportunities that work. I am at whits end on what to do. God does provide and sends a means to get by...I just don't understand why this problem persists, and why God makes me wait, and wait, and wait. I do get some interviews, but then it's worse, because I think well maybe this is the opportunity, and then another rejection. It's really hard to keep the up and down. I pray to God to lead me down the path he wants me to take.

Dear brothers and sisters, just a tip for those looking for work. What has worked for me in the past is I let business associates and friends know I'm looking for work and if they can "keep an eye out" for work at their job. Then every week I would call them to follow-up. I would also call job recruiters and headhunters weekly to see if they have any new jobs available. I find that in addition to looking on the internet, news papers, and etc.. networking with people you know is very effective.May the Lord bless you and yours, be encourage your breakthrough is nearer than you know. Dear Brothers and Sisters, remember the rain fails and sunshine on both unbelievers and believers in Christ. Like Job, we do not know why the Lord allows certain things to come into our lives. But, we have the assurance that he loves us, died for us, and is their with us as we go through every trial. I want to encourage everyone to continue to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding Proverbs 3: 5-6. It is very easy for me to praise and worship the Lord when things are going well but, when a tragedy hits do I still praise, worship, love, and serve him.I once heard that a true measure of a Christian is not how we praise and worship the Lord when we are on the mountain top but, how we react when we are in the valley.... May the Lord bless you and keep you, may he make his face to shine upon you, and give you grace and peace.Jesus said "those who live godly will suffer persecutions" and even trials and tribulations! Your breakthough is near, don't give up, don't stop praising and worshipping, and don't stop believing the Lord who is full of mercy and grace. LB.

As someone severely color blind and with Ankylosing Spondylitis and other problems, finding a suitable job is easier said that done. I know God has a plan for my life but I have to wait for due season. Also the Devil's Crowd do what they can to steal, kill, and destroy. I am on welfare which is bitter-sweet and better than living outdoors in all seasons. My life is proving when you know the truth, the truth will set you free. I would rather be poor in rural America than in a high population area. I live in my grandparent's former home that my dad does not want to live in. The home was built around 1920 by a local doctor. The computer and Amateur Radio keeps me connected to friends wide and far. I do not go to the church I grew up in as they now have a pastor who does not believe anyone can do anything wrong. I thank God for the Bible and ministries such as yours to provide an anchor in a sea of turmoil.

Sariah says 8.26.2010, 11:56 p.m.

God word is Yes and Amen! He will never leave and forsake us.. just believe in His promise and give thanks to Him for what he has done and will do for our future though we may not see it happen yet..it is not God's will for his people to suffer. God wants his children to live in abundance ..but sometimes God will allow us to face some difficulties..and during that time we know how faithfull we really are! Are we just faithful when we have everything?? We need to ask and examine ourselves..God bless!

Try listening to Hillsong's Desert Song, "This is my prayer in the desert when all that's within me feels dry...All of my life, in every season You are still God. I have a reason to sing. I have a reason to worship...." This song helps me so much when life gets tougher...I believe when we don't know what to do, we still can sing and praise him *_*

Maranda says 8.26.2010, 8:57 p.m.

My husband was without a job for 10 months. We kept tithing on his unemployment income throughout. It seemed we couldn't get a break through. We talked to the associate pastor at church and he gave us some scriptures to quote daily. (Eph. 1:15-23 and Eph. 3:14-21) We also learned the importance of our words. The tongue is the rudder of the life and it steers your direction. Speak God's Word and pray God's Word. Make sure you have no bitterness toward others OR God. God and you are on the same team - it is an awful thing to confuse Him for the enemy. My hubby and I lost our home and cars but remained faithful in tithing and honoring God - and not falsely blaming Him for hard times. It may also be necessary to fast. Whether it be food, TV, or something else and to get serious with God. After we worked the Word, forgave, and controlled our tongues, God provided a great job for my husband. He is no respecter of persons. I wish you all well.

Claudia says 8.26.2010, 8:55 p.m.

Amen!! with out faith it is possible to please God! God wants us to use our time wisely, because when you least expect he will open a door in a supernaturally way! When you are out in church or maybe serving or maybe helping someone with Jesus love and compassion he will put the right person a divine appointment that will take you to his promise of getting the job you were looking for! Praise him because he is faithful even when we are faithless... Amen! Claudia from Boca Raton Florida

Romans 8:28 God is awesome and He will never leave us or forsake us. My husband and I have lost our home, I lost my job, and our daughter is living with us because of her economic situation and it' s been over a year now. God has always provided for our needs. We have not gone hungry and He has provided us with a home and the ability to pay our bills. Don't ever lose hope. God never leaves us.

Robert says 8.26.2010, 8:17 p.m.

Greg, the point to reading Job is not to dwell on the many and varied adversities God allowed to happen to him, but on Job's faithfulness to God throughout all of it. Hardly anyone is ever tested as severely as he was, and everyone is given enough grace to see it through. Seeing how much more he went through than most, pray for the strengthening of your faith to be like Job's and focus on God's "perfect will" for you. Personally, I've been out of work for 7 months, but all of our needs (not wants) have been met because my wife and I never doubted God's provision. It still has been hard the whole time. It won't suddenly get easier from one prayer. Keep praying and keep reading your Bible, especially the Gospels, but also the Psalms and Proverbs. The best thing I can say is that persistent faith in God, not in your own faith or abilities, will be the key. I'm more sure that helps than ever because I've finally been offered a new job and will get to start soon! Praise and thanks be to God! I'm going to keep praying for you and everyone else.

Debi says 8.26.2010, 7:56 p.m.

GREG : with many things in my liffe, I have felt just like you do...you took the words right out of my HEART.....Pray!!! TELL THESE EXACT WORDS TO GOD!! Tell Him you don't understand, you're disillusioned, etc. I cant quote the verse, maybe someone else on here will, but it basically says that >we do not serve a God who can't relate to our trials, a God who's "clueless" so to speak<, I have often been afraid to tell God what's really on my mind, for fear of blasphemiy or something - but guess what?? HE ALREADY KNOWS AND IS WAITING FOR U TO BRING IT UP IN CONVERSATION!!! Go for it, my brother. and DONT GIVE UP TIL YOU GET AN ANSWER>>>> and A JOB!!

Greg says 8.26.2010, 3:30 p.m.

I feel so discouraged. I've been out of work almost a year. I'm feel so angry at God that he could let this happen to me. Why did he give me a job and a home, just to snatch it away from me later. It seems like he is judging the righteous along with the unrighteous. How can I trust God in the future. Someone told me to read the book of Job. It made me even angrier with God. Why would God even entertain the devil's acusations. Job must have wonedered for the rest of his life when God would bring evil on him again. What kine of God is this? Why would I want to praise an agry vengeful God. I thought He had no more anger for me when I accepted His son. Why is He allowing all this evil on me to happen and yet calls me His child. I don't think God is good like we think of good. I don't know what to believe about God anymore. I thought God was a loving father, I'm not sure anymore.

Mike H says 8.26.2010, 12:30 a.m.

I'm in the same situation. I've been out of work for more than a year, so I'm starting a business. I'm able to spend more time with my wife and daughter, use my skills and abilities to bless others, and pursue my dream all at the same time. The money isn't there yet but if I'm following the Lord, and I believe I am through careful prayer and searching, then He will provide.

Deborah says 8.26.2010, 11:56 a.m.

I am going back to college..I have a degree, but am going to Bible College to enhance the calling on my life. I believe my job severance was the alarm for me to pursue the things of God..both my children are in college now and I am single-available for His service -and, He has made provisions and I received my college acceptance letter yesterday. For me, it's a new beginning of a new chapter in my life.

Mary says 8.26.2010, 11:37 a.m.

Wayne says 8.26.2010, 11:36 a.m.

It has been almost two years since my wife and I both got laid off from our jobs. We both took any kind of work we could get to survive. We still had to go through bankruptcy but by working we did not go through depression. God has promised He would provide for our basic needs. We have never went hungry and even though we lost our home He provided a rental for our family. Through it all God has been so faithful to His promises which drew us closer to Him and not further away. He will help you in the way He thinks is best and not the way we think He should help. Trust in Him and rest in His will. This will bring you peace and joy during your tribulation!

Phelim says 8.26.2010, 10:40 a.m.

It is certainly God’s will that you ‘work and eat you own bread’ (2nd Thess. 3:12) so rest assured that as you trust God for a job, He is certainly working on it to bring it to pass. But while it is yet arriving or materializing, there’re a number of things you can do in order to be ready. Yes, being ready goes beyond just having the required job skills. One thing that I know will help any believer to succeed in life is the ability to hear from God and follow by grace and faith His instructions and these come only by spiritual development. We spend so much time developing our mental and physical abilities, and have very little time to do the same for our spirits. This is a good time and you may not have this luxury of time for a long while to come; as for your needs, give them no thoughts, God doesn’t shirk His responsibilities. You and your family have survived to this moment and it isn’t to your credit. You may not have all the luxuries, pleasures and necessities, but you’ll never experience abject lack. As king David observed, the righteous are never forsaken and their seed never have to beg for bread. Enjoy God without worries, ‘cos He’s so good, but do all that’ required of you.

Diane says 8.26.2010, 09:54 a.m.

Even when he fled to the desert, David knew that God was with him. As Joseph was taken into captivity, He knew that God was there and would deliver him. We go through times when we feel that Gods favor has been taken away from us. That he has hidden his face. This is a test of faith. Some tests last longer then others. But stand fast and know that your crys are being heard, that he does have a plan for you and you will be deilvered to a higher place. Just as David and Joseph were exalted for standing fast and waiting on God. Praying for all that seek employment. That God will renew them and fill them with hope and peace!

Robin says 8.26.2010, 09:53 a.m.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, "He shall not be afraid of evil tidings." Ps 112:7. "The lot is cast into the lap, but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord." Prov 16:33. "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." 1 Pet 5:7. Trust God, who cannot lie. Trust the One for here and now, in whom you trust for your Eternity.

My wife and I are in much the same situation. We both own small businesses and both of them are failing. We are close to losing our home and having lawsuits for our debts. We are trying so hard to stay on course, keep our faith and be true to what we know God has in mind. We know he is faithful but we struggle so very much with keeping our faith. Everything in our world is dark and we feel so alone and ashamed, hurt and hopeless. Thank you Brother Graham for the words of encouragement. We all must keep each other lifted to God in prayer and faith, that is the one sure hope we all have.

My husband was unemployed for 16months...I didn't know if we were going to lose everything or what. I work and go to school for ministry degree. I was afraid I might have to quit school - and at age 54 that would probably mean never going back. I couldn't believe that God would change his mind about ministry - or that I'd misheard. Meanwhile, my husband was also spiraling downward in depression and guilt. When he lost his unemployment, he began working out of Labor Works - a temp/daily work source...another one is Labor Ready. This allowed him to gain his confidence and self-esteem back while working humble odd jobs. By the time Boeing offered him a job he was ready - humble and confident - because God did a work for him. By the way, he also quit drinking last Dec. So even though I thought we might lose everything, God had a plan! He came through with more than we could ever ask or imagine! He brought us through not knowing if we would lose everything to a place where there is now light at the end of the tunnel! He is faithful and he has increase our faith through this! Don't give up!

Connie says 8.26.2010, 09:33 a.m.

I myself have been out of work for almost a year, just to know others are feeling the way I do makes me feel less alone and more encouraged. I do know God has a plan for all of us and no matter how discouraged or defeated I feel at times there is something that wont allow me to give up. I suppose it's the Grace of God and the Holy Spirit. I will continue to fight for the Bible says we are the head and not the tail. God will never leave us nor forsake us. Be encouraged today all of you, tell Satan to get behind you and watch God move on all our behalves. Prayers for all!!!!

harold says 8.26.2010, 09:20 a.m.

A friend and church mate was out of work for more than a year. His field was very specialized. After many, many, many interviews and great leads, he continued to be without a job. I know he got disappointment and he and his wife stayed the course. They continued to put their trust in God and knew that He would provide the right job at the right time. The prayer was answered just this past week. It will come, continue to pray and continue to work for the kingdom - in anyway possible.

Susan says 8.26.2010, 09:09 a.m.

My husband has also lost his job. Thank you for this message. We continue to pray for God's guidance and strength.

Yvonne says 8.26.2010, 09:06 a.m.

I don't know what kind of work you do, but a good friend of mine (a believer) is a contractor; and in Michigan jobs are scarce for his linje of work. His sister and brother-in-law live about 4 hours' drive away, and there have been jobs in their area that he has had to travel to; living out of a suitcase in order to work. He has gotten paid by his customers more readily and has built a relationship with the insurance companies down there. He is unable to move there right now, because his daughter is still in high school. But his wife has a good job and this helps them a great deal. God has been good to him, and he is making "do" with a bad situation in these ways. Perhaps you can do as he is doing, and find work in another community. There are different living arrangements you could make; for example, staying in a motel or renting a room in a private home. But if you will pray about it and put all of your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, He will help you find creative ways to find work...it may not be exactly what you are used to...but in today's employment market, one has to be creative. I myself am a widow and also retired and living on a pension...and God has been good to me...my company has been doing well, and this is a big answer to my prayers. Please do not despair...but rely on Jesus and He will show you the way.

Deborah says 8.26.2010, 09:00 a.m.
