My Answer

Sometimes I think I'm going to crack up. My husband is in the military in Iraq, and all I can think about is what might happen to him. I hope you'll encourage people to pray for everyone serving over there, and also for their families. — Mrs. L.R.

Thank you for your letter—and I'm grateful also for your husband's willingness to serve his country during these difficult times.

I hope your letter will also remind people to pray for those serving in the military and their families, and for our leaders as well. They all need God's protection and peace, and they also need His wisdom as they face the future. The Bible says, "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness" (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

I know you face great stress at this time, and my prayer is that you will come to know God's peace in a new way. God loves your husband and He loves you as well. How do I know this? I know it because Jesus Christ was willing to give His life for you. Turn to Him and commit your life—and your whole situation—into His hands.

Then realize that God knows all about your husband's situation and is watching over him. No, I can't promise he will never come to harm—but when we know Christ, we know that we are safe in His hands forever. Jesus' promise is for you: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you" (John 14:27). Put your trust in Him today.
