My Answer

How can I know for sure that I'm going to go to heaven? I've just seen that movie on the passion of Christ, and I was really overwhelmed by what Jesus went through for me. But I'm still not sure what I need to do to be saved, and I really want to know. — K.J.

You've asked the most important question any person can ever ask—and let me assure you that God wants you to know the answer. Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Luke 11:9). That is God's promise to you.

Suppose one day that your best friend came by your house and offered you a gift. What would you have to do before it became yours? Would you have to pay him for it? Or would you tell him to take it back to the store so you could go there and buy it for yourself? No, of course not. All you'd have to do is receive it. Your friend had already paid for it, and now it will become yours if you accept it.

In a far greater way, this is what Jesus did for you. He paid the price for your salvation by His death on the cross—not part of the price, but all of it! Now God offers you salvation as a free gift. All you have to do is receive it by trusting Jesus and what He did for you.

The Bible says, "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12). This is what God promises you—and He cannot lie. By a simple prayer of faith ask Christ to come into your heart today—and He will.
